You're so sweet...

Monday, August 31, 2009

Hello there! I have a sweet and easy card for you today. This card is tiny (3" x 3.5"), just perfect for a gift tag. I love making these little gift tags on Monday's. Such a great way to boost your creativity after losing it over the weekend.

Well, for today's card I once again used some scraps from my stash of Kiwi Kiss patterned paper. I loved this pack and seriously only have a few scraps left. I am a very frugal scrapper, so when I buy something, I usually use it until it's gone. As you know, I love this stamp set (Everyday Button Bits from Papertrey Ink) and I'm determined to use every image. I'm almost there since I used the little apple stem and leaf. What a cute little card to put on top of a jar of homemade applesauce or apple cake.

Hope you have a great day! I'll be back tomorrow with a card for the Paper Maniac Grand Opening celebration!

Birthday Wishes Gift Card Holder...

Friday, August 28, 2009

Hello there and happy Friday! I loved the idea of today's limited supply challenge at SCS and I just had to play. Today is Wendy's birthday (the challenge hostess) and she had some special requests for our creations today. There were 3 stipulations. Your card must be a money/gift card holder, have a butterfly on it, and use something chocolate in color.

Now, I haven't made a gift card holder in quite some time, so I had to go back and find my gift card holder tutorial. The finished card is 3" x 4.5", a little smaller than the tutorial card.

Here's what the inside looks like.
If you are looking for some other gift card holder ideas, click here, here, and here.

Thanks for visiting me today! Have a great weekend and don't forget about the Paper Maniac Blog Hop on Sunday!

Sending Birthday Wishes...

Wednesday, August 26, 2009

Hi there! Every Wednesday when I go and check what the sketch challenge is for the day, I pray that it does not involve diagonal lines or triangles. I seriously think I have a phobia about diagonal lines on a card. Well, today this was the sketch challenge. I thought I would give it a try since there were so few layers. I was pleasantly surprised when it turned out so well. Oh! I flipped the sketch, which was not planned, but the sentiment placement is better this way.
I used the balloon strings from Everyday Button Bits, but cut ovals with patterned paper instead of using buttons. Click here to see another card I made using the same technique. I also adhered a little triangle of red paper under the oval to make a "balloon knot".

Hope you liked today's card! Thanks for visiting me today!

A Note of Thanks...

Tuesday, August 25, 2009

Hello! Today's card uses the color challenge at SCS. The colors to use were red, kraft, and chocolate. I adore earthy colors, so this challenge was right up my alley! The flowers are stamped on kraft cardstock and then matted on chocolate. This card is simple and clean. I added a bow and then took it off. I think the flowers add so much interest that a bow is not needed. Also, check out my list of accessories! One item!
Hope you have a great day! The weather here has been amazing. Fall is coming!

Hey there, chickadee...

Monday, August 24, 2009

Hey there! I made today's card using the Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I knew that the little chick from the Everyday Button Bits set would be just perfect for the circle panel. I used some Kiwi Kiss scraps. Wouldn't ya know it looks great with Papertrey's Ripe Avocado. I pulled out my twill tape for this card. It's one of those supplies that is very neglected by me. I do really enjoy using it though, so go figure! This card is 4.25" x 4.25".

Thanks for stopping by today!

Sweet Baby Card

Friday, August 21, 2009

Happy Friday!!! So glad the weekend is here. This card is a special request from my Mom. She needs a baby card for a girl that was just born a few days ago. I just received a package of goodies from Northridge Media and it included a pack of these stickers. Now, I'm not much of a sticker person, but these are too cute! I used the word "Sweet" and then stamped the letters for "BABY" with my Fresh Alphabet stamp set from Papertrey Ink.

Just look at that sparkle!
I even finished off the inside printing every thing off the computer and adding a couple of hearts from the sticker sheet.
Hope my Mom like it (and Addison too!). Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

My coolest card ever!!!

Thursday, August 20, 2009

This has got to be the coolest card I've ever made! Sure, I make a lot of "pretty" cards, but this one is funky and cool. I love it! It is much better in real life because there's a lot of dimension with the floss and thickers lettering.

This is a mini card with the Kraft base measuring 3.5" x 3.5". I used SU's mat pack with the piercing template to perfectly line up the brads. I pierced the holes first and then inserted the brads. Then, I zigzagged the floss between the brads. I slid a piece of white card stock under the floss for some added interest and to see the letters better. The word "love" comes from the Everyday Button Bits set. The sentiment is "all things grow with love" and I only inked the word "love". And then I adhered the letters. It was pretty easy, but a big WOW effect.

Hope you have a great day!!!

{Love You}

A Spotlight Daisies Card...

Wednesday, August 19, 2009

Hello! Today's card uses today's sketch challenge at SCS. The sketch called for 5 layers and I wanted a clean and simple look. I decided not to mat any of my layers. Since there are so many hard angles on this card, I decided to soften it up a but by rounding all the corners on the Kraft base and to use some soft daisies as my focal point.
I am still loving Papertrey Ink's Everyday Button Bits stamp set and am having a ball using other things besides buttons. I love how the flowers look on the balloon strings! I couldn't really find a spot for a sentiment (poor planning on my part) so I left if off. So, now I have an "any occasion" card.

Enjoy your day!

A super simple card for today

Tuesday, August 18, 2009

Hey guys! I'm starting to settle into my new schedule with the kids being back in school (Colin is only half day). I wanted to do a clean and simple card today using today's color challenge at SCS. The colors were Close to Cocoa, Taken with Teal, and Very Vanilla. The patterned paper I used was perfect for the challenge. I didn't have any Taken with Teal ink, so I used Night of Navy. I think this card is very boring, but I'd like to create it using brighter colors. I think it would change the whole feel. By the way, this card is a CASE of this card by Andrea Walford.

Also, I used this tutorial for faux threading the buttons. I love it! So easy!
Have a great day everyone!

Sending Birthday Wishes & Preschool

Monday, August 17, 2009

Hello guys and happy Monday! It's been super busy around here. Colin started his first day of preschool today. This is his 2nd year of preschool since he doesn't turn 5 until January. He slipped right back into the routine and did great.

Yesterday, I saw this card from Dawn McVey (the Halloween one) and was in LOVE! I had to CASE it, and FAST! I hope you can see that my sewing skills have vastly improved. I've been tinkering with the tension and stitch length and I *think* I may have it all figured out.
This card is pretty straight forward, but if you have any questions, leave it in the comments. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Flying High with Unity Stamps

Thursday, August 13, 2009

Hello! On Tuesday I told you all about Unity's 100% Happy Kit on sale at Paper Maniac and today I am here with a sample. I don't have any previous experience with Unity stamps, but I am happy (100% happy!) to report that they are awesome! There's a wide variety of images and sentiments that come with the kit and they stamp so CRISP!

For this card I CASEd the layout from this card by Jen del Muro. The colors for this card are a little wacky (at least to me). I started this card with the balloons. I wanted red, purple, and blue with green stems/strings. Once I had all that colored (the balloons are popped up on foam dimensionals) I built a background from their based on Jen's card.

Hope you have a great day!

All things grow with love card

Wednesday, August 12, 2009

Hello! Boy, I had so much fun making this card. I just took my time and played around with different elements. I love not being in a rush and not being asked a million questions by the kids. Colin hasn't started school yet, but he was being good just playing by himself. I think listening to 80's music (think Cyndi Lauper & The Beach Boys!!!) really gets your mojo going.

Anyway, this card came about by using today's sketch challenge on SCS. I've been wanting to use the topiary image from Papertrey Ink's Everyday Button Bits set, and the sketch gave me the perfect opportunity. I used a lot of floss on this card. The butterfly was an afterthought. It was the perfect finishing touch!
Hope you're having a great day!
