Wishing You Joy Tag

Friday, May 29, 2009

TGIF!!!  When I woke up this morning, I had no idea what I wanted to create today.  I was browsing challenges and saw the limited supply challenge on SCS.  The challenge was to make a card using just half a sheet of card stock and lots of patterned paper.  I didn't make a card, but made this cute tag instead.  I did follow the rules though.  The dimensions of the tag are 2.5" x 3.5".  This would look so cute tied on a gift bag.  The triangles for the tree were made using a square punch and then folding the square in half.  Punches make life to much easier!

I hope you all have a fantastically fun weekend!

My First Christmas Card of the Year

Thursday, May 28, 2009

Yep, you read that right.  I'm starting to work on Christmas cards.  Normally I send out around 65 cards and they are usually all the same card.  I thought I would change it up this year and send out a variety of cards.
I saw this wonderful card on Wendy Wexler's blog last week and fell in love.  I love finding new ways to use stamps.  I thought her card looked like a wreath, so I thought I would make my wreath a holiday one.  It was super easy.
This card was really hard to photograph since it's a window card.  I think this is the first window card I've made.   Before I forget, this card also uses a button which was the requirement for the ways to use it challenge today at SCS.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Sending Hugs...

Wednesday, May 27, 2009

Hello!  This is the card I made for Dawn McVey's color challenge for this week.  I absolutely love this color combo.  Green is definitely my favorite color.  I bought a new paper pad over the weekend and one of the sheets was just perfect.  The pack is from Basic Grey and is called Urban Prairie.
The centers of my flowers are a silver brad with a clear rhinestone on top. There's a lot of dimension to this card that is hard to see in the picture.  I love all the glam and bling!
And here is the full card.  I just love taking pictures outside because it captures the true colors the best.  I can usually just crop it and post it.  Luckily I was able to get this pick before it started to rain.

This candy dish uses a template found here, however I did make a few modifications.

Friday, May 22, 2009

I'm so thankful it's FRIDAY, and a three day weekend at that!  It's been a while since I made a card that I was absolutely in love with.  Well, I had a lot of free time this morning and wanted to make a something I was really proud of.  I really do love this card!
The finished card is 4.5" x 4.5".  I was able to use up a bunch scraps from a Kiwi Kiss Patterns Pack.  The sentiment is clear embossed.  It's a little difficult to see in the picture.

I hope you all have a wonderful, long weekend!

Today was Colin's last day of preschool for this year.  I decided to buy his teachers a box of chocolates for them to enjoy.  They really deserve a decadent treat for all they do.

Once I had the chocolates, I wanted to personalize them with a special tag.  I used cream paper and the Top Note Die from Stampin' Up for the tag base, folded in half.  I used the stamp set Fresh Alphabet from Papertrey Ink to spell out Colin's teachers names.  I used a hole punch to punch two holes in the top to thread the ribbon through.  The ribbon is a sheer sage color from Offray.
Here's Colin enjoying the last day festivities.  I enjoyed painting his classmates faces, although I didn't do very well.

Thanks so much gift tags

Wednesday, May 20, 2009

Hello!  Today I made two little (3" x 3") gift tags.  The end of the school year is quickly approaching and my kids need to give their teacher's a little token of appreciation.  I made these two tags to go with gifts for Halle's teachers.  I'm not sure what they are getting yet, but I know I'm using these tags.  They were very quick to make.  The flowers are made out of two sizes of circle punches.  The patterned paper was a scrap.  Cute and simple, just what I like.

Hey there!  I've been a really into CAS cards lately, you know Clean and Simple.  This card was quick and easy since I used a circle punch.  The circles are popped out using foam dimensionals.  I love the little added dots in the corners.  This card is a small one, measuring 4.25" x 4.25".

A Mother's Card

Monday, May 18, 2009

Happy Monday!!  I came accross this card a while ago and tried to CASE it.  I made the circle panel, and then was stuck.  I pulled it back out over the weekend and added the ribbon.  I think that really 'tied' it all together.  I still love the original card better.  I love the idea of the offset circles with the row of rhinestones.

I took this picture on one of our new chairs from the patio set we bought over the weekend.  I love sitting out on the deck!!!

Hope you are having a good Monday!  Thanks for stopping by today!

Saturday, May 16, 2009

When I saw Dawn McVey's color challenge this afternoon, I couldn't resist the temptation to play.  I love these colors together.   This is kind of a twist on yesterday's card.  To be honest, I like today's card a lot better.  I think the rhinestones add such an over-the-top girly twist.

Well, enjoy your Saturday!!

Forever Friend

Friday, May 15, 2009

Hello!!!  I actually made this card this morning and didn't get a chance to write up a post for it until right now.  I'm absolutely loving the ribbon treatment on this card.  So easy to do using a stapler.  Sorry, not a lot to say today.

Here's a detail shot of the ribbon:
Did you watch the Grey's Anatomy finale last night?  Holy crap that was a good episode.  I hope Meredith and McDreamy really do tie the knot next season.  I thought that part was kinda lame.
Have a nice and relaxing weekend!

Relax

Thursday, May 14, 2009

Hey guys!  This is a card I made yesterday and didn't have a chance to post.  I've been seeing a lot of these types of cards around the blogosphere lately.  I thought I would take a stab at it.  I love one dimensional card.  I'm a minimalist at heart.  The martini glasses are from Dog Gone Stamps and are actually three individual images.  I used one of the glasses in this card.

Yesterday was a BIG day at our house.  Halle lost her first tooth!!!  Her tooth had been loose for a few days and it finally came out while we were having lunch at Frisch's for my Dad's birthday.
She looks so cute!!!

Mojo 86 Card

Tuesday, May 12, 2009

Hello!  Here's a card I made using the Mojo Monday sketch for this week.  And yes, I am aware of the black ink smudge.  Don't you just hate that?  I was inking the edges of the images and I must have gotten some ink on my fingers.  These images come from the Flower Set from Dog Gone Stamps.  They are also having a sale right now.  All the stamps in RED are on sale.

Hope you all have a great day!

Mother's Day Herb Garden Card

Monday, May 11, 2009

Hello!  I hope you Mom's all had a great Mother's Day.  I had a great weekend here.  I thought I would share what I made for my Mom and Mother-in-law.  It's a five pocket accordian card that has herb seeds in each pocket.  I got this idea a while back from a post I saw on Sharon Johnson's blog.  Click here for all the detials and tutorial.

The base is Kraft and the papers are from SU's Kiwi Kiss Designer Paper.  I printed the labels out using my computer, Coluzzle and a scallop circle punch.  When you plant the herbs, you can peel off the labels and adhere them to a popsicle stick to use as a plant marker.  All the seed packets came from Wal-mart.
Have a great day and I'll be back tomorrow with a card.

I hope you are having a great day.  I have some brownies in the oven for Colin's preschool night.  Yum!

Sketch Challenge Card

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

Hello!  Does this card look familiar?  I used the same papers from yesterday's card.  My friend Lori called me yesterday and she needed a personalized card for a co-worker.  I decided to use the layout from today's sketch challenge at SCS (which looks a lot like the mojo85 sketch I used for yesterday's card).  Anyway, more Amy Butler paper goodness.  You can't go wrong there.   The finished size of this card is 5" x 5".
I also decorated the inside of the card.  Both sentiments were computer generated and use the font Edwardian Script from Microsoft Word.  I hope Lori likes it!

It's a mojo card...

Tuesday, May 5, 2009

Hi guys!  It's been a while since I did a Mojo Monday card, but I'm so glad I did.  I am absolutely thrilled with how this card turned out.  I would have never thought to put all those patterns together had they not come in the same patterns pack.  The flower detail was cut out from the the flower paper in the background and popped up with a foam dimensional.

If you can't tell, I took the picture on our new deck.  The floors are almost done and I couldn't be happier.

Have a fabulous day!

Kind Thanks!

Monday, May 4, 2009

Hello!  I hope you all had a good weekend.  I had a girls night/craft night on Friday.  For some reason I only made two cards in about 4 hours.  I think the wine and conversation had a little something to do with that.  Such a fun group to hang out with.  Anyway, I made this card using a layout I saw on SCS.  I will post a link if I can find the card again.  I hate when that happens.

We started building our deck last week.  Finally!  And by 'we' I mean my husband and his cousin Luke.  Although I have been helping wherever I can by keeping them fed and running to get materials and tools.  You can see the progress in the picture below.  We should have the floor done tonight and the steps and railing sometime next week.
{Kind Thanks}
