Paper Maniac Thursday - Back to Basics!

Thursday, November 11, 2010

Hello!  This week the Paper Maniac DT and I are going back to basics-- Basic Grey!  I love Basic Grey so this was an easy one.  I chose to use the Manila Basics 6 x 6 paper pad.  I love all the patterns in this collection, they are easy to pair with other papers.  I wanted to see if I could make a card using only neutral papers, and I think it turned out pretty good and I love the pop of blue.

Here's another view of the card to give you a perspective on the dimension.  Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Paper Maniac Thursday - Friendship

Thursday, July 29, 2010

Hello!  I'm so glad I finally got back in my studio after such a long break.  I didn't really have the desire to create today, but I knew it would be good for my soul, and it was.

This week on the Paper Maniac Blog the theme is friendship.  The sentiment on my card is from a set called "Thankful Flourishes" from Our Craft Lounge.  It says "Your kindness has touched my heart" which is perfect to send to one of your BFF's.

All of the paper on this card comes from a Little Yellow Bicycle tablet called "Sweet Love".  The patterned paper in the background looks like three strips of paper, but it's really one sheet.  The pink oval is the flip side of a sheet of patterned paper.  The heart was cut from a sheet of hearts.

I used embroidery floss to stitch on my card.  I'm sure it would have looked fine without it, but I love doing it. There is something very calming about the repetition.

About my Mom, she's still in the hospital.  They are still trying to figure out what is wrong with her.  We are still waiting for test results.  I'll keep you all updated.  Thanks for the well wishes!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Paper Maniac Thursday - Emboss Resist

Thursday, July 22, 2010

Hello and welcome to another Paper Maniac Thursday!!!  This week the design team and I are trying out the technique Emboss Resist.  If you are not familiar with this technique there is a tutorial on SCS that is great.  But, I will explain how I made my card.

I started out with a light green piece of card stock, the same color as the sentiment panel.  I picked a leaf/flourish stamp from Thankful Flourishes by Our Craft Lounge and stamped it in a random pattern with Versamark ink.  I sprinkled clear embossing powder over the stamped images and then set them with my heat gun.  Then, I took a sponge and inked over the entire piece of card stock.  The embossing resists the ink.  It's magic, really!
You can see a bit of shimmer in the photo above.  That's the clear embossing.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Have a wonderful day!!!

Paper Maniac Thursday - Father's Day

Thursday, June 17, 2010

Hi!  It's Paper Maniac Thursday here on my blog.  This week the DT and I are making cards for Father's Day.  My card base is brown textured card stock from Bazzill.  I used two pieces of Origins patterned paper by Basic Grey for the "landscaping" and distressed the edges with tea dye distress ink and an edge distresser. The sentiment is from Our Craft Lounge's Thankful Flourishes stamp set.  Such a versatile sentiment and very appropriate for Father's Day.  I added the rhinestones as a finishing touch.  The tree is an old 3D sticker that my SIL was getting rid of at our last girls craft night.

If you are still in need of  ideas for Father's Day cards, make sure you check out the Paper Maniac Blog to see what the rest of the Design Team created this week.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Have a wonderful day!!!

PS.  This week at Paper Maniac, Cuttlebug Embossing Folders and Martha Stewart Punches are 35% off!!!

Paper Maniac Thursday - Teacher Cards!

Thursday, June 3, 2010

Hi there!  Welcome to another Paper Maniac Thursday here on my blog!  This week the theme is Teacher Cards.  I made this card earlier in the week for my daughter to give to her teacher on the last day of school (along with some sweets!).  She filled out the inside thanking her teacher for being so awesome.

My card is a 3.5" square with a kraft base.  The patterned paper is from Early Bird by Cosmo Cricket and is sponges around the edges with brown ink.  The sentiment panel is cream and the sentiment comes from Thankful Flourishes by Our Craft Lounge and is stamped in red.  That adorable little felt apple comes from a whole pack of Snack Attack Felties by Sassafras.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!!!

Paper Maniac Thursday - Mother's Day!

Thursday, May 6, 2010

Hey there!  It's Paper Maniac Thursday here on my blog!!!  This week the DT and I are focusing on Mother's Day.  My card is actually for my husband's Mom.  The patterned paper I used is from the Sugar Rush Card Kit by Basic Grey.  This card kit is sold out, but the 6x6 Sugar Rush paper pad is available and would do the same thing.  The only piece that is not include if the piece of orange card stock.
I love how all the colors coordinate.  The pink strip, heart, and flower were scraps from other cards I've made with the kit.  The sentiment is from an Our Craft Lounge stamp set called Thankful Flourishes.  The sentiment is appropriate for Mother's Day without directly saying it.  I'll write that on the inside.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!!!  Have a great day!!!

PS.  The layout for this card is from this week's Mojo Monday sketch.
