Paper Maniac Thursday - Mother's Day!

Thursday, May 6, 2010

Hey there!  It's Paper Maniac Thursday here on my blog!!!  This week the DT and I are focusing on Mother's Day.  My card is actually for my husband's Mom.  The patterned paper I used is from the Sugar Rush Card Kit by Basic Grey.  This card kit is sold out, but the 6x6 Sugar Rush paper pad is available and would do the same thing.  The only piece that is not include if the piece of orange card stock.
I love how all the colors coordinate.  The pink strip, heart, and flower were scraps from other cards I've made with the kit.  The sentiment is from an Our Craft Lounge stamp set called Thankful Flourishes.  The sentiment is appropriate for Mother's Day without directly saying it.  I'll write that on the inside.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!!!  Have a great day!!!

PS.  The layout for this card is from this week's Mojo Monday sketch.
{So very thankful for you}

OCC Challenge - Blossoms!

Saturday, April 24, 2010

Hey guys! I'm here bright and early with a new Our Creative Corner challenge. I have really enjoyed my month as hostess. It's so much fun to come up with the challenges. So far this month we've had challenges to use buttons, bows, and butterflies. So, to keep with the B theme, this week's challenge is to use BLOSSOMS on your cards.

We also have a sponsor this week. Paper Maniac is an online store that has a wide variety of papers, stamps, tools, and embellishments. This store is near and dear to my heart. I'm on the DT, I use products from their store and love them. They have amazing customer service and quick shipping. Patti, the owner is offering one random participant a $30 gift certificate and FREE shipping!!!

My card is a bit out of the norm for me. It is a long and skinny card. The design for this card comes from one of the samples on the Basic Grey Card Kit, Sugar Rush. The layout and elements are the same, I just swapped papers. The chipboard flower was a crazy plaid. So, I covered it with pink card stock and glitter. The black circle and petals are chipboard that came in the kit along with the stem and leaf die cuts. The white swirls and sentiment is a rub-on that cam in the kit.
If you haven't already, head on over to Our Creative Corner and check out the samples from the DT. I hope you make some time to play along this week! Have a great day!!!

For you...

Wednesday, April 21, 2010

Hey there! I made this card using today's sketch challenge at SCS. Except for the card base and the little white rectangle, everything came from the Sugar Rush card kit by Basic Grey. The black swirl and the word "for" are two separate rub-ons. The letters that spell "you" and the heart are chipboard.
I love using these kits, especially when I need to make more than one card in the short time I have allotted. There's not much thinking since all the papers and embellishments are already coordinated for you.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope your day is great!!!

Miss you...

Wednesday, April 14, 2010

Hello! It's no surprise that I'm using Sugar Rush by Basic Grey again! Don't worry, I am quickly running out of paper and die cuts. In fact, I'm getting ready to open my other Basic Grey kit, Green at Heart, for tomorrow's card.

This is such a happy card. I love all those lovely colors. This card uses today's sketch challenge at SCS. See the ribbon? That was supposed to be a strip of paper. I think the ribbon works nicely.
Tip of the Day: I like using rounded edges at opposite sides of my card . Here, I rounded the bottom corners of the card base and then rounded the top corners of the pink layer. I think it adds some interest and balance.

Thanks for visiting my little blog today! Have a good one!!!

A love card...

Tuesday, April 13, 2010

Hello! I've been a real challenge junkie lately. I hope you all don't mind. I guess I've caught the bug. I've also been playing with this paper (Sugar Rush by Basic Grey) a lot. You may have to pry it from my hands. I just love it.

This card uses this week's Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge. She had so many cute samples, I couldn't resist trying out this sketch. The papers were so easy to coordinate since they are all from the same collection. I won't bore you with the details of this card since there really aren't any.

Well, hope you all are having a fabulous day! Thanks for dropping by.

All my love...

Monday, April 12, 2010

Hello friends! I hope you all had a great weekend. We did, but I am very grateful to have the kids back at school today. I don't know if you all have noticed, but I'm sort of getting obsessed with CPS challenges. It is hard for me to pass up such a fun and simple sketch. The card I made today uses this week's sketch.

My card uses papers from Sugar Rush by Basic Grey and also uses a coordinating chipboard heart, flower die cut, and a rub-on sentiment that came with the Greeting Card Kit.
See those black dots on the three floral panels? They look like black brads, but they are actually chipboard. You can probably see that from this angle. It worked out well since I already applied those layers with foam dimensionals. I didn't need to pry them up to insert brads. I just love happy accidents.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by today! Have a good one!!!
