Clean & Simple

Friday, January 30, 2009

Hey girlies! I wasn't sure I would have time to craft today, but then I saw that the challenge today on SCS was to make a "Clean & Simple" card. I can do that! This card was super easy. Just an embossing folder, a ribbon, a stamp and a punch. I stamped Close to Cocoa on Kiwi Kiss paper so that "hi" and the flower stems would be green. Easy peasy!

The kids and I finally got out of the house today. A quick trip to the grocery store, bank, and the post office to ship out some stamps that I sold. I still have quite a few sets left. Check them out here.
I hope you all have a fabulous weekend! We will be visiting my new nephew tomorrow!!! I can't wait. I'll be sure to take lots of pictures!!!

Cute, little cards...

Thursday, January 29, 2009

I made these two cards this past weekend after seeing this post on Kristina Werner's website. Aren't they cute. They are only 3" x 3"!!! These will most likely be used as gift tags since they are so small. I really like this kraft, kiwi kiss, black and white combo.

Also, I'm working on getting my Etsy site up and running. I registered some time ago but don't have anything in my store yet. Still looking for some ideas. Hopefully I'll be posting about that tomorrow!

Have a great day!

PS. Wanna buy some stamps? I have some for sale here.

It's a Snowy Wednesday!

Wednesday, January 28, 2009

Just look at our backyard! That is snow on the ground and ice covering our trees. It looks sooo pretty, but we are getting a little stir crazy since the kids have been off school all week.

Here's the front yard. You can kinda see our mailbox and where the street should be.

I made this card using today's sketch challenge at SCS. This is a pretty simple and straightforward card. The letters are from an alphabet Cuttlebug set called Hippie Chick. I traced and cut out the heart, then covered it with Crystal Effects so it looks shiny.

And here's a close-up:
Enjoy your day, or what's left of it!

{I heart you!}

Mojo Monday on Tuesday!

Tuesday, January 27, 2009

I think this card is a bit different than my regular cards. I just kept adding and adding things. I made this by combining two challenges. I used the color challenge at Splitcoast Stampers, using Pacific Point, Garden Green, and Baja Breeze. I used the Mojo Monday #71 sketch by Julee Tilman. Her sketch challenges are so popular that she had to create a separate blog for them. This is the first time I've been a participant in Mojo Monday.

This card has layers upon layers. I didn't have any patterned paper in these colors, so I made my own using a paisley background stamp. I stamped Garden Green on White and then I stamped White on Garden Green. I also used a lot of paper piercing. The little star on "Congrats" is popped up on a dimensional. The finished card size is 4.5" x 4.5".

I hope you all enjoyed today's card!

What an exciting weekend!

Monday, January 26, 2009

We had a busy and exciting weekend! My nephew was born yesterday morning, which was about two and a half weeks early. He is absolutley adorable. I can't wait to see the little guy again. My brother and sister-in-law named him Gabriel Michael. Can you get any cuter?

I also had a craft night on Saturday with my SIL's, Carrie and Steph. I made this card using a sketch from Taylored Expressions. I had fun playing with all of Carrie's Papertrey Ink sets. I know I'll be ordering Out On A Limb. So versatile! Have a wonderful day!

Hey! Tonight is the Papertrey Ink blog hop! This months challenge was to make a birthday card. Pretty simple! My card was very easy to make using two kinds of ribbon. I just love this color combo!

Here is a close-up. The blue ribbon is actually the flip side of the striped ribbon.

To see what everyone else has done, head on over to the Papertrey Ink forum. I can't wait to see what everyone else has made.

Color Challenge!

Thursday, January 22, 2009

Here's another color challenge from Kristina Werner. My yellow is actually Summer Sun, but I think it still looks okay. I got the purse template from Mary Fish's website. So cute! It's only about 3 inches tall. Halle is going to a classmates birthday party this weekend and I think this would look really cute filled with candy and attached to her present.

Take care!

More Fun With Punches!

Hello! Like I said yesterday, I had some more ideas using punches. Both of these cards use scraps from a Basic Grey 6x6 designer paper pack called Sultry. I love Basic Grey paper. I need to get some more!

This first card uses a Swiss Dots embossing folder, an SU! scalloped square punch, and the SU! stamp set called Say it with Scallops. It's a super fast and easy card. Each square is popped up on a dimensional making the center square popped up higher than the rest.

This card is sooo funky and I love it! I love the mix of all the papers. Half of the circles are popped up on dimensionals. This card uses a 1 1/4th" circle punch and SU! Chit Chat rub-ons for the sentiment, and white brads.

Take care! I'll see you all tomorrow!

Punch Happy

Wednesday, January 21, 2009

Aren't these cards cute?! The best thing is that they were sooo easy and used up some of my scraps. I saw this post on Jennifer McGuire's blog and I knew I just had to make some. Both of these cards use Kraft cardstock as the base as well as Kiwi Kiss Designer Patterns Paper for the punched images.

I can't decide which I like better.

I have some more cards like this in mind for tomorrow. Stay tuned!

More about Google Reader

Tuesday, January 20, 2009

I signed up for Google Reader and now I have so much more time on my hands. I have a list of blogs I check everyday, several times a day looking for new posts. Using the Google Reader, the blogs come to me. Now I have time to read even more blogs!!!! I love Google. My email is through them (Gmail), I use their FREE photo editing program (Picasa), I'm obviously using their blogging program (Blogger), and now I'm using Google Reader. Google really knows how to make life easier. If you would like to learn more about the Google Reader and how to get started, my new friend Lydia from Understand Blue offers $5 webinars on Google Reader. I think she had one tonight night. She can show you how to use Google Reader to organize your blogs and be able to retrieve individual posts you like by keywords - forever!

I think I'm just trying to use it up so it will stop haunting me. Fun With Foam Core!

Monday, January 19, 2009

I do not have a card to share with you today, BUT I do have a pretty cool project. Way back in September, Nichole Heady had a post about her work space. See that cute sock organizer? Well, I've been looking for something like that ever since. I never could find *exactly* what I wanted, so I made *exactly* what I wanted.

I saw this and this on Splitcoast using Foam Core a few days ago. That's when the light bulb went off! If you don't know about Foam Core, it is like two sheets of poster board with styrofoam sandwiched in the middle. You can cut it with an exacto knife.

Right now, all my supplies are in various drawers and cabinets. It takes me forever to make a card since I have to keep getting up and down. I wanted a unit where I could keep everything I use frequently right in front of me. Please keep in mind that this is not very pretty, but it is very functional. It is put together with hot glue, so it's not something I will be moving around a lot. This whole thing cost me around $6. I already had a glue gun, glue sticks, a ruler, and an exacto knife. When I make another one of these, I will be sure to buy a T-Square so my cuts are straighter. The whole unit is about 13.5" x 12.5". Each tier is 4.5" x 12.5".

Here is the view of the front:

Here's the bottom tier. It holds: SU! Mat Pack, 3D-Dots, SU! Dimensionals, Embossing Powders, Brads, Tombow Liquid Glue, Stamp Cleaner, Stickles, SU! Crystal Effects, Snail Adhesive, Punch, Black Staz-on, Versamark, and Black & White Ink.

Here's the middle tier. It holds: SU! Stampin Spots (room for 4), markers, pens, pencils, white gel pen, highlighter, scissors, paper piercer, exacto knife, stamp-a-ma-jig, a few PaperTrey Ink stamp sets, and a few packs of 6x6 paper.

Here is the top tier. It holds: some 12 x 12 designer paper, Coluzzle, paper trimmer, neutral cardstock (white, kraft, ivory), in-color card stock, and a ruler.

Please feel free to ask any questions. If you decide to make one of these yourself, I would love to see it. Have a great day!

Supplies:
-2 Foam Core Boards
-Glue Gun
-Glue Gun Sticks
-Ruler
-Exacto Knife

Blog Update!

Sunday, January 18, 2009

Hey guys! I've just been tweaking my blog a bit today and I wanted to let you know about one new feature. There are now two ways to subscribe to my blog. The first is by email. You can receive an email update when I have posted something new. The second way, the new way, is that you can subscribe using an RSS Reader. You can find both options on the left hand side, mid way down the page. I personally don't know much about the RSS Reader. If you read a lot of blogs, this would be a big time saver for you. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll get my husband to answer them for you! I'm going to add all the blogs I read to Google Reader here shortly.

Happy Friday! TGIF! And a three-day weekend! This is a little LOVE card I made this morning. I guess it could be a Valentine's Day card, or just an "I love you" card. The picture looks a little washed out. I'm not sure why. I used natural light like always. Oh well. I'm sure you get the idea.
Have a fabulous weekend!

Congrats! Color Inspiration Challenge

Thursday, January 15, 2009

It's time for another Kristina Werner Color Inspiration Challenge!!! Just click on the link to participate. I will be totally honest and say that this color combo really scared me. For some reason, unless it's an autumn card, I don't like using orange. But, I think this card works for me with just a little touch of orange.

The patterned paper on this card is from a Real Red patterns pack. It's really hard to tell in the picture what color it is. The star is popped up on a dimensional.
Enjoy your day and thanks so much for stopping by!

Some great news & a Thank You card!

Wednesday, January 14, 2009

Hey ladies! I have some exciting news to share with you today. Remember that card box I altered last week? Well, it's being published in CARDS magazine!!!! It should be in the June 2009 issue. There is always a small chance they will change their minds, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Now, onto the card! Here's a card I made this morning using Kiwi Kiss Designer Patterns Pack, Kraft, and my new Top Note die from SU! I hope you are not getting tired of seeing this Kiwi Kiss paper. I absolutely love it! I wish I had a pack in every color! The sentiment "Thank You" is clear embossed. You should be able to see a little sheen on the picture below.

Take care, girlies! I'll be back tomorrow with a KWerner color challenge!

My Little Man & an SFYTT Card

Monday, January 12, 2009

Today is Colin's 4th Birthday! Happy Birthday Colin! We had a party for him on Saturday and I made these cute cupcakes. They tasted great! Here's where I got the recipe. I did pretty good for my first try. I can't wait to make some more for Valentine's Day.

Here's my little guy at school this morning. Such a little man.
And here is the card I made this morning while the kids were at school. The layout is from Jen del Muro's Sketch For You to Try (SFYTT for short). I just love how the flower "hugs" the 'de-lightful' circle.

I'm also using this card to participate in a blog candy giveaway. It's a huge prize! Click here for the details. You will really be helping out a great cause by participating!
Take care!
