Masculine Thank You Card...

Thursday, November 12, 2009

Hello! I didn't set out to make a masculine card this morning, but like most of my card, it just evolved. Does that happen to you? Sometimes I don't know what I want to make, but I know what supplies I want to use. And then I just start playing. Anyway, the patterned paper is from a sheet I created using Papertrey's Guidelines set. I posted about it HERE. To me, what makes this card "masculine" is the use of earthy colors and hard lines. No bows, no rounded edges, no flowers.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Paper Maniac Wednesday - More Holiday Decor!

Wednesday, November 11, 2009

Hello! I'm back again this Wednesday bringing you more holiday decor ideas for Paper Maniac. Today I'm showing you a sign I made using Paper Maniac supplies along with a frame I picked up at my local dollar store.

Here's what the frame looked like before I altered the inside. It is made of plastic, but you wouldn't know the difference to see it sitting on your mantle. The frame opening is about 5" x 7".
The first thing I did was safely discard the glass. since we are altering the inside of the frame, the glass will not fit after you are finished. I took some plain chipboard letters and covered them with some Polar Expressions patterned paper by Imaginisce. I also used the striped paper from that same pack for the background. I took a piece of kraft paper and adhered it behind the letters so that the letters would be easier to see and read. I paper pierced along the top and bottom edges where the kraft met the striped paper.

When you are finished making the background paper, slide it into the frame. Do not adhere the letters before you put it in the frame. If you do that, you may not be able to fit it in the frame.

Now you can adhere your letters with glue dots. I used a narrow piece of green ribbon to tie a bow on the letter "J" and a snowflake with a button on the letter "O".

I created a flower accent using a glittery poinsettia, a felt flower and leaf, and a Robin's Nest Dew Drop.
This sign will be going up on my mantle, but I think it would look really great hanging on a wall with ribbon and a bow.

We are featuring holiday decor and ornaments on the Paper Maniac Blog all month long. Head on over and get inspired!

Monogrammed Guidelines Card...

Tuesday, November 10, 2009

This morning I made a whole sheet of patterned paper using Papertrey's Guidelines stamp set. I used olive green and light green on the top part (seen in this card), hot pink and olive green on the middle, and olive and light brown on the bottom. I plan on making cards to show you later this week with the rest of the paper. It does take a small chunk of time to do this, but I will be reaping my rewards for the rest of the week.

I also pulled out my JustRite Monogram Stamper today. The letters and border are stamped in olive green. I didn't have any matching ribbon, so I used paper instead, even for the little loops. I just slid the paper trough my thumb and index finger a bunch of times to get it to curl. If you don't do this, your paper will crack.

Hope you enjoyed today's card. I'll be back tomorrow with a holiday project!

Holiday Wishes Card...

Monday, November 9, 2009

Hello and happy Monday to you! I'm starting off the week with an ultra simple card. I used my Martha Stewart snowflake punch to create a border along the bottom. I set the snowflakes aside to use for another project. I then took a strip of nave paper and adhered it behind the snowflake holes. Like Colin would say, easy peasy! I also used some more of those silver pearls. I love those!!!
Here's a close-up of the punched snowflakes. I hope you enjoyed this fast and easy card. Definitely a CAS card. Very easy to mass produce. Have a great week!

OCC Challenge - Inspiration

Saturday, November 7, 2009

Welcome to another challenge from Our Creative Corner. This week is an inspiration challenge and you can see the inspiration photo to the left.

My first thought was Halloween, but that is over (thank goodness!). My next thought was Thanksgiving, but I usually don't send out cards for that holiday. I decided to make some Thanksgiving place cards.

I've never made place cards before, but it turned out to be pretty easy. I used the computer and printer for the names. They are printed in a dark chocolate ink. The pumpkins are embossed in gold and then cut out using an oval nestabilities.

Here's a close-up of the gold embossing. So classy and perfect for a small Thanksgiving dinner.
Don't miss what the other DT ladies created at Our Creative Corner using the same inspiration piece and then join in the fun yourself!

Wishing you joy...

Friday, November 6, 2009

Hello & TGIF! Like I said yesterday, I've been making holiday cards like crazy. This card came about when I was playing around with my Labels 9 Nesties and noticed that the shape kinda looked like an ornament. I already had some snowflakes punched out and they fit perfectly. This was such an easy card to make. I'm tempted to use this as my "official 2009 holiday card".
I love red and white and have seen it a lot this season. Red and cream seem to be really popular as well. Decisions, decisions...

Thanks for stopping by today! I'll be here bright and early tomorrow with a new Our Creative Corner challenge!!!

"It's the most wonderful time of the year"

Thursday, November 5, 2009

Hello! Since Halloween, I've been making holiday cards like crazy. This card uses a free digital image from Verve Stamps. They only offered it for a short time, so I'm lucky I got it. I love it! Especially the font used in the sentiment. I printed the sentiment on white paper and the mittens on Spring Rain. The image of the mittens had a string linking them together that I decided was too cumbersome to try and use. Check out those silver pearls!!! They are my newest obsession. I think they look so classy!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
