A {Purses are like good friends...} Card...

Friday, March 11, 2011

Hey guys!  I'm so happy to share this card with you.  These purses from Just My Style by Clear & Simple Stamps are just perfect for paper piecing.  These six purses are one stamp, but you can also cut them apart and stamp them separately.

I wanted to create a scene where the purses looked like they were sitting on a shelf.  So fun!  And like the sentiment say, you can never have too many.
Once the purses were paper pieced I took a fine-tip sharpie marker and filled in a few details on the purses like the straps and stripes and buckles.

Today's a very big day for me.  It's my very last day of the running program (Couch to 5K) that I've been doing for three months.  I can now run a 5K and have done so on my own a couple times already.  So proud of myself.  I'm also going to a lunch comedy show with a group of girls.  Sure to be a good time.  And then I'm driving to Louisville for the CK Convention and to meet the ladies (Nicki & Reenee) behind Clear & Simple Stamps.  So excited!  I can't wait!  I hope it stops raining for the two hour commute.  I hope to share some pictures soon (not of me running, just the CK Convention part!).

Have a great day!

A {Celebrate Today} Card...

Friday, January 21, 2011

Hello there!  Things have been a little crazy around here this entire month.  My kids have had a lot of snow days and I have my eggs in several different baskets.  I haven't been feeling very paper-crafty this month.  I kinda think it's because my studio is a complete mess.  I added two major components to my space (my Silhouette machine and my light box) and I haven't quite figured out how to arrange everything.  I would be so embarrassed if anyone saw my space right now.  This morning my laptop and Silhouette were on the treadmill.

Along with my kids being home from school a lot, I've taken up running and crocheting.  Just like anything new, you want to do it all the time (talking about the crocheting, not the running).  I've been crocheting like crazy.  About the running part, I've started a program called Couch to 5K.  I'll be finishing my second full week tomorrow.  That's been fun since I met a great group of girls to do it with.
Anyway, I made time this morning to get crafty.  This is a pretty simple card.  I wanted to start out simple and get my mojo built up.  The patterned paper and the die cut flower in the center are from Hippy Girl by Kaiser Craft.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Paper Maniac Thursday - Hello!

Thursday, December 23, 2010

Hey guys!  This will be my final post for Paper Maniac.  I've had a very fun year and a half working with Patti and the girls at Paper Maniac.  It is truly a great store with lots and lots of amazing products.  What sets them apart from other online stores is their wonderful customer service and quick shipping to your door. Oh, and their prices and sales are awesome!  I have really enjoyed my time with Paper Maniac and will continue to support them in the future.

Now onto my card.  We have had so much snow where I live, I really wanted to make a happy and cherry card without any snowflakes or other winter elements.  So, I picked up one of my favorite collections, Hippy Girl by Kaiser Craft.  I cut 1.25" squares from my scraps to form the quilt-like base.  The floral die cut in the middle even came with the collection.  For the butterfly I used a Martha Stewart punch and punched it from another die that came with the collection.
I added a little sponging around the edges.  The sentiment "hello" is from the clear stamp set Essential Messages from Hero Arts and is popped up on foam dimensionals.

Thanks so much taking the time out of your busy schedules to stop by for a visit.  Have a great day!!!

Paper Maniac Thursday - Christmas Greetings!

Thursday, December 16, 2010

Hello!  It's Paper Maniac Thursday and I have a happy little Christmas card to share with you.  The finished size of this card is a 4.25" square.  All of the papers and center die cut come from the Kaiser Craft paper pad called 'Tis the Season.  I used a Labels 9 Spellbinder Die to cut the red shape.  The sentiment I used is from a clear stamp set from Stampendous called Holiday Home
There are foam dimensionals between each layer and the sheer cream bow is attached with a glue dot.  The rhinestones were added as a finishing touch and to draw your eye to the sentiment.
Have a great day!

Paper Maniac Thursday - Congratulations!!!

Thursday, December 9, 2010

Hey there!  It's Paper Maniac Thursday and I have a fun and bright card to share with you.  I had so much fun making this card, seeing how it all came together.  I used some die cuts from the Hippy Girl paper pad by Kaiser Craft and then I die cut the oval from one of the patterned paper sheets.  I had fun getting to know my sewing machine and creating the ruffle-y ribbon.
The "congratulations" sentiment is from a set called Enjoy by American Crafts.  I curved the stamp on my acrylic block before I stamped it.  The butterfly is a stamp from the same set.

Thanks so much for stopping by for a visit.  Have a great day!

Paper Maniac Thursday - Pick Three

Thursday, December 2, 2010

Hello, hello!  It's Paper Maniac Thursday and this week we are using three of our favorite products from Paper Maniac on our cards.  Well, I'm sure you're not surprised by my choices since I use them all the time.  First up is this awesome paper pad called Hippy Girl by Kaiser Craft.  Every paper element is from this collection except the card base.  I created a window for my sentiment by cutting a hole in the pre-made die cut label from the pack.   Even the strip of glitter came with pack too.  My second item is the Labels 9 Nestabilities Die from Spellbinders.  It is my all time favorite die and I use it on everything.  Lastly is Kaiser Craft rhinestones.  I think I have them in every color available.  Love, love, love them!
Here you can see the dimension of my card and that little circle window I created for the sentiment.  Thanks so much for visiting today.  I hope you have a wonderful day!!!

Clear & Simple Stamps - December 2010 Release

Wednesday, December 1, 2010

Hello & Happy December!!!  It's release day at Clear & Simple Stamps and I couldn't be any more excited to share these new sets with you.  These have got to be my favorite so far, but I know I say that every month.  There are two new sets for December and they work really well together.  They are:
And here's just one card I made with this set, many more to come this month.

Almost everything on my card comes from the December release.  The new color story for this month is Emerald Bling and I used that color for the snowflake stamp, ribbon, button and card stock.  The patterned paper is from Kaiser Craft.
There's a lot of dimension and texture on this card.  The centers of the snowflakes have mint green rhinestones on them, which look sort of clear in the photos.  The edges of the sentiment panel as well as the edges of the circle are distressed.
Here's a close-up of the bow with the button center.
Like I said earlier, the December color story is Emerald Bling and it is a rich emerald green color.  Emerald Bling is available today in card stock, ink, re-inkers, buttons and ribbon as well as the Copic Trio Bundle (colors pictured below).

Thanks so much for stopping by today for the big release news!  I love these sets and know you will too.  Have a great day!

Paper Maniac Thursday - Give Thanks!

Thursday, November 25, 2010

Happy Thanksgiving!!!  In keeping with this week's theme on the Paper Maniac Blog, I made a Thanksgiving card.  One of my favorite kinds of cards to make involve punching shapes and arranging them on a card.  I love the mix of patterns and prints that come in the Hippy Girl paper pad by Kaiser Craft.  I sprinkled the circle punches with some light purple rhinestones for some extra bling.  The sentiment is a sticker from SRM Press.  The whole sheet is fall/Thanksgiving.  The sentiment along the top is a sticker as well.

I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving full of friends, family, and delicious food!  I am thankful for you everyday and how much I am touched by all your thoughtful comments and those that of you that stop by and visit.  Have a wonderful day!

A {Merry Christmas} Card...

Wednesday, November 10, 2010

Hey guys!  I have to tell you that I'm finally getting things together in my studio (and it actually resembles a studio so I don't feel like I'm lying when I refer to my studio as a studio).  I'm seriously having too much fun making cards.  I felt kinda lazy (and didn't want to leave my studio) and took these photos on my desk.  They didn't turn out bad since there is a window near.

So, my card uses the Mojo Monday sketch.  When I finished this card, it occurred  to me that I didn't use any stamps. How'd that happen?  I did do a little sponging though.  In general, I'm not really big on patterned paper that has images in the corners, like this santa, but I found a way to make it work.  The brown paper in the background had the sentiment "Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!" printed on it, so I ended up using that particular sheet in two places.  Both of the red and brown background papers have faint printing on them, which is a little hard to see.
Here's a close-up so you can see the dimension and how the sentiment is wavy.  The sketch did not have the sentiment hanging off the edge, but I liked the way it looked.  By the way, all the edges are sponged with brown ink.

Thanks so much for visiting today!  Have a wonderful day!

Paper Maniac Thursday - Northwoods Stamps

Thursday, October 28, 2010

Hello!  It's Paper Maniac Thursday!!!  This week the design team and I are showing off Northwoods Stamps.  You can find the stamp I used on my card here.

The leaf background goes perfectly with these colorful butterflies.  The leaves are glittery.  The leaf paper, the blue sentiment paper, as well as the pink paper behind the butterfly all come from Hippy Girl by Kaiser Craft.  As soon as I saw this stamp, I immediately knew I wanted to cut around the wings and make it 3D.  I was able to do that by using a craft knife.  I took a small square of pink patterned paper and applied it behind the butterfly for some added interest.
The butterfly centers have matching rhinestones so they coordinate well with the glittery paper.

Northwoods Stamps are marked down 25% this week at Paper Maniac.  Check them out!

Have a great day!

A "Holiday Greetings" Card...

Monday, October 25, 2010

Hey guys!  I always forget about the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop until it's too late.  This time Nichole reminded us the day before and she's letting you link your blog all day.  This was such a big help because, I forgot.  So this morning, I made a card, tore it up and made the card you see above.  By the way, the challenge this month was to make a card celebrating winter holidays other than Christmas.  I really like the sentiment "Holiday Greetings" since It covers any holiday.

This card also uses the Mojo Monday sketch, which I love because it's pretty simple.  All of the papers on my card come from the Kaiser Craft paper pad, 'Tis the Season.  The sentiment circle is a die cut from the pad.
Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope your week is off to a great start!!!

OCC Challenge - Spooky Color Challenge

Saturday, October 23, 2010

Hey all!  Sorry I was MIA yesterday, but if you've been following my tweets, you'd know that I was at the zoo on my son's field trip.  Fun times!
On to more serious matters, I'm here with a card sample for this week's Our Creative Corner challenge.  This week we have a color challenge and Diane picked a color scheme that would be great for a Halloween card, but feel free to make any kind of card you like.  My first thought was not to make a Halloween card, but then I remembered the new set, Beware, from Clear & Simple Stamps.  I knew it would be a match made in heaven.

It's hard to see unless you enlarge the photos that the purple and green are actually patterned paper from Hippy Girl by Kaiser Craft.  Love that collection!!!
Be sure to check out the rest of the card samples from the Our Creative Corner design team.  I love seeing the diversity of cards all using the same color palette.

Have a great day!
