Hello...

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

Hello! Yesterday I mentioned that Kristina Werner posted a new challenge on her blog (finally!!!). The challenge is to make a one layer card. I thought this challenge would be a nice way to ease into the week. Boy was I wrong. This is the third card I made, and I bent the rules a tiny bit. I tried to make the card without the ribbon poofs, but it just didn't look right. This way is looks better (but not great) and it still good for mailing since everything lies flat. KWIM? I hope I don't get kicked out of the challenge!!!
The inks I chose to use came right from the ribbon stripes. The ribbon loops are stapled right to the paper. This finished size of this card is 4.25" x 4.25".

I posted yesterday about all the spring cleaning I've been doing. I was also able to clean my daughter's room, which was a pretty big undertaking. Luckily, she has bins in her room for the toys she plays with the most (dress up, barbie's, doll house, books, art stuff) so it's mostly separating and putting things where they belong. I guess I'll tackle my little guy's room today. I could tell he was a little jealous of his sister's clean room. It's so much easier for kids to keep their rooms clean if they start with a clean room that they just need to maintain (at least in my case). The hardest thing for me is reminding them to pick-up their rooms everyday. Then it turns into a total disaster area and you are partly to blame. At least that's how I feel.

Anyway, I really appreciate you stopping by for a visit today! I've been getting lots of comments lately that always makes me feel sooo good. You have no idea. Have a great day!!!

KWerner Color Challenge #56

Wednesday, July 15, 2009

Here's my card for Kristina Werner's Color Challenge #56. I was working on a card this morning when this challenge was posted. I completely abandoned the card I was working on so I could participate in the challenge! I am a challenge junkie. I admit it. Anyway, this card is a CASE of a card on page 62 of the new Stampin' Up catalog. I was looking through the catalog last night copied down a few layout sketches to use in the future. The finished size of this card is 8"x4"- a long skinny card.
Here's a close-up so you can see the layers and dimensions.

Have a great day!!!

A Torn & Crinkled Flower Card

Thursday, June 11, 2009

Hello! Is is Friday yet? We have such a fun weekend planned, I can't wait! Anyway, so much went into this card. The colors are from Kristina Werner's latest color challenge. The ways to use it challenge for today is to use crinkled paper. The technique for the flowers came from a tutorial from Dawn McVey, although I couldn't get my petals to curl! Okay, with all that said, I'm really not sure about this card. I'm not sure if I love it or hate it. What do you think?

I'm back...

Monday, April 27, 2009

Hey guys!  We got back from vacation on Saturday and we had a great time in Florida.  I have a busy week coming up and wanted to make sure I took the time to make a card for Kristina Werner's 50th Color Inspiration Challenge.  Congrats Kristina!  I love this color combo, but it is a lot of colors to use.  I decided to use just a hint of red.
Have a great day!!!

Oh well...

Monday, April 13, 2009

Hello!  After some major technical difficulties, I'm finally able to post my card for today.  Scott and I bought a 'hybrid' computer last week and I saved my pics where he said I should and then they didn't appear in my photo editing program.  Weird.  He'll have to give me another lesson tonight.  Oh well.

This card was really a chore to make.  I think all the candy and junk I ate yesterday depleted my mojo.  This card was supposed to be for Kristina Werner's Color Challenge #49, but the challenge is now closed for submissions.  Oh well.

Enjoy the card and hopeful some of my mojo will come back for tomorrow's card.

{Thanks}

One dirty martini...

Saturday, April 4, 2009

Hey guys!  Some new Dog Gone Stamps came in the mail yesterday and I just couldn't wait to play around.  This little martini glass is part of a set of 3.  I used colors from Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration Challenge #48.  Great mix of colors.  This is a smaller card, 3.5"x3.5" and the sentiment is computer generated.  Just perfect to stick on a gift.

I hope you all have a  wonderful and relaxing weekend!

Just for you color challenge...

Thursday, March 5, 2009

Hey ladies!  It's time for another KWerner Color Inspiration Challenge!  The colors this week are Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink, and Whisper White.  I used my new Papertrey Ink set Around and About Sentiments again today.  It is quickly becoming one of my favorites.
There are two lines of the sentiment "Just for you", but you can barely see the top pink line in the photo.   There is also faux stitching around the circle that is also hard to see.
Here is a close up.  I took the pic below to show all the dimension in this card.  I used 3D Foam Dots as well as SU Dimensionals.   Click on it to enlarge.
Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Color Inspiration Challenge

Wednesday, February 18, 2009

Hey there! The card I made today is for Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration Challenge #42. The colors are Really Rust, More Mustard, Kiwi Kiss, and Whisper White. I was a little leery of this combo, but I think it looks nice with all the white. This card uses the Top Note die and the Birds & Blooms dies from Stampin' Up. I love those dies but I'm itching to get some more. To participate in the challenge or to see what everyone else created, click here.

Don't forget to click here for the BLOG CANDY Giveaway!!!!

My 1st KWerner Challenge!

Wednesday, December 31, 2008

I have been reading Kristina Werner's blog religiously for about a year now. I am participating in Kristina's Color Inspiration Challenge for the very first time today. Okay, here's what the inspiration picture looks like:

I also combined Kristina's Challenge with today's sketch challenge at Splitcoast. I am so very pleased with how this card turned out. Today was the first day in a while that I have thoroughly enjoyed creating. What a great way to start out the new year.

And here's a close-up:

I hope you all have a safe and happy New Year's Eve. We have an overnight babysitter (my parents) and we will be playing Rock Band all night with friends.

PS. You will notice that my colors are not exact, and that's okay with Kristina. Anything close will suit just fine.
