A "Wishing you well" Card...

Monday, August 30, 2010

Hey guys!  I made this happy little card this morning using this week's CPS sketch.  All of the papers on my card come from a 6" x 6" paper pad called Hippy Girl from Kaiser Craft.  Not only are the colors and patterns to die for, but they also include 4 sheets of die cuts.  Most of the die cuts are labels and are perfect for stamping sentiments.  That's what I did on my today.
Please ignore the shadow of my head in this photo!  I wanted to make sure you can see the dimension of the sentiment panel as well as a close up of the burlap string.  One day I'll get this whole photography thing down.

Thanks so much for taking the time to visit me today!!!  I hope are having a great start to your week.

Sending a happy hello...

Wednesday, August 18, 2010

I'm sending you a happy hello today!!!  My kids started school today and it was so nice to sit in my studio and make two cards (you'll see the other one tomorrow) from start to finish.  That is something that rarely happened this summer.  Fortunately Halle and Colin love school and I think that's why I'm not sad about my little guy starting Kindergarten.

I made this card using this week's Mojo Monday sketch.  I was organizing my desk and came across a ziploc bag full of scraps from a pad I bought of couple years ago that I still love.  It's the Amy Butler Designer Series Paper Pad by K & Co.  I literally only  have scraps left.  See the rectangle of gray and blue paper?  That's actually two pieces I had to glue together, LOL.
This card looks so much better in person, trust me.  I do love the shabby chic look of this card.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!!!  I'll be back tomorrow with a card and some pics of the kiddos.

Paper Maniac Thursday - Thank You!!!

Thursday, August 5, 2010

Hi everybody!  Today is Paper Maniac Thursday on my blog.  This week on the Paper Manaic Blog the Design Team has been expressing their gratitude to all of you that read the blog and shop in the store.  We are all so grateful for you all.

For my card today, I started with a kraft base.  The finished card size is 4.25" x 4.25".  The patterned paper is from the Indian Summer collection by Basic Grey.  I trimmed it to a 3.75" x 3.75" square and then used a large label die (2nd to the largest) to cut out the center of the square.  Then I cut a square of light brown card stock to 4" x 4" and used a smaller label die (3rd to the largest) to cut out the center of that square.  I adhered the patterned paper to the light brown paper, making sure everything is in line.  I roughed up the edges with a paper distresser and then faux stitched along the inside edge of the patterned paper (this is hard to see in the photo).  Then I applied that finished layer to the card base with foam dimensionals, adhered the rub-on to the card base, stamped my sentiment and applied the pink rhinestones.  When you are stamping on top of a rub-on the ink will take longer to dry.  Be careful not to smear the ink.
Here's a close-up so you can see the dimension.  Paper Maniac has all of their Spellbinders, Tim Holtz and Cuttlebug Embossing Folders on sale this week.  Check out the deep discounts!

Thank you so much for visiting today.  We are so thankful for you!
