A {Birthday Wishes} Card...

Thursday, March 3, 2011

Hey guys!  I've been having some computer issues this week.  I turned on my laptop yesterday morning and it went straight to an error page and wouldn't boot up.  Until that gets fixed I'm using my husband's net book.  It's really small and I really don't like it.  I miss all my programs and shortcuts I have on my computer.  So, I made this card today and had to download photo editing software so I could crop it and adjust the lighting.  Hopefully my computer will get fixed tonight if all goes right.

So, here is my card.  I'm combining two SCS challenges.  The first one is the "Ways to Use It" challenge where they wanted you to use polka dots on your card, I think mine has more than enough.  The other one is a "sketch challenge".  The layout is pretty unique that I just had to give it a try.
Here's another view so you can see all the dimension.

Thanks so much for stopping by today for a visit!  Have a great day!

A {Happy Spring} Card...

Wednesday, February 16, 2011

Hey friends!  I was drinking a cup of coffee this morning, browsing my usual blogs and websites when I cam across a challenge at Moxie Fab World.  The challenge Cath issued was to make a card using paper piecing. My favorite thing to paper piece lately are these adorable umbrellas from the Spring set from Clear & Simple Stamps.  So, I made this happy little spring card.

The cloud paper I chose has some distress lines in it that make it look sorta windy so the umbrellas look like they are blowing around.
Here's a close-up shot of the black enamel accents I used on the tops of the umbrella.

Have a great day!

A {Happy Heart Day} Card...

Thursday, January 13, 2011

Hello!  Today I'm playing along along with CPS's 200th Sketch!  I chose to use these papers because they were still sitting out on my desk from the card I made yesterday.  I just adore the colors of the Love Me Do collection by My Mind's Eye.
The stamps I chose are from Clear & Simple Stamps.  The hearts are from Icons I and the sentiment is one that I created using Icon Extras.  To get extra mileage out of my sentiments, I sometimes cut the words apart.  The word "heart" came from the phrase "from the heart". Since they are acrylic stamps, they are super easy to line back up on the block when you want to put the phrase back together.

Today Colin celebrated his birthday at school and the clown cake pops were a hit!  All the kids loved them and said they tasted great.

PS.  I ordered an actual light box so I can take better photos of my cards.  They are so hit or miss lately.  The card today is totally cute and the photo doesn't do it justice.  Ugh.  Can't wait till it gets here.  I would love to consistently take good photos indoors.

Have a great day!

A {So Sweet of You} Card...

Wednesday, October 27, 2010

Hello, hello!  I have a card for you today using today's card sketch at SCS.  I pretty much kept the layout the same, except substituting a labels die instead of an oval in the bn.  I haven't used this patterned paper in a while.  It's Love Me Do from My Mind's Eye.  I pretty much only have scraps left since I love these colors so much.
All of my edges are sponged in red.  My opinion on sponging is that if you decide to sponge an edge, all the edges on the card need to be sponged.  That makes everything cohesive.  What do you think?

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you are having a great day!

An "I love you so much" Card...

Tuesday, September 14, 2010

Hello!  Here's a quick card I threw together this morning.  I used papers and die cuts from the Love Me Do collection from My Mind's Eye.  Love those colors.  The finished size is a 4.25" square.  There's a lot of sponging going on here.  The birds are sponged with blue and all of the other layers and card base are sponged with brown.

I ran out of kraft card stock a week ago and have been using up some old SU Creamy Caramel card stock with brown sponged edges to give the same neutral effect as kraft.  Can't wait to order another large package of kraft.  It's definitely my most used color for a base.  It truly goes with everything.

Hope you all are having a great day!!!

OCC Challenge - Sketch Challenge

Saturday, July 3, 2010

It's Saturday and around here that means a new challenge from Our Creative Corner.  This week we have a sketch challenge.  I absolutely adore sketches that are clean and simple.  For my card I used some Love Me Do patterned paper from My Mind's Eye.  I kept pretty close to the sketch, although I did exchange the stars for flowers.
Here is a close-up of those flowers:

Head on over to Our Creative Corner and see what the other ladies created with the sketch.  I hope you have time to play along this week.

Have a great holiday weekend!!!

Thank you for your generosity...

Monday, June 21, 2010

Hey there!  Thanks for stopping by today.  It's been a while since I've done a Mojo Monday card, so I thought I would do just that today.  This sketch was a little busy for my taste, but I managed to keep it clean and simple by not using patterned paper on the card base like it shows in the sketch.  The patterned papers that I did choose are pretty simple.  I love the color combination of red, turquoise and yellow.  There is such a happy feel to this card.

This card is full of dimension.  Each layer (except for the yellow cloud layer) are popped up on foam dimensionals.
I hope you all are having a great day!  See ya tomorrow!!!

I love you so much...

Monday, June 7, 2010

Hello!  I hosted "girls craft night" at my house over the weekend and we had a blast.  It wasn't the most productive night for me, but it did wonders for my soul.  Sometimes you just need a girls night to gossip and vent, and just be girls.  A little wine doesn't hurt either!

Even though I did get a few cards done I decided not to post any today since I wanted to participate in this week's Mojo Monday sketch.  Since this one is a contest, I wanted to stay true to the sketch.  As you can see, the main sentiment panel is crooked and it doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would.  Can you say PROGRESS!!!

The card base is craft and everything else is Love Me Do patterned paper from My Mind's Eye.  I used my corner rounder punch for the scallops instead of using my scallop edge punch.  The "sun" and "cloud" are from the die cuts that came with the Love Me Do patterned paper.  I sponged the edges of the "sun" so it wouldn't blend into the yellow paper behind it.
I didn't have the perfect yellow ribbon, so I used white and colored it with a yellow copic marker (Y06).  My friend Melanie couldn't make it to our craft night, but she graciously let me borrow her copics.  Thanks Melanie!  I'm having fun playing with them.

OCC Challenge - Sketch Challenge!!!

Saturday, May 22, 2010

Hi!  Welcome to another challenge from Our Creative Corner!  This week, Loretta is challenging us to make a card using this sketch.  I loved the sketch, but decided to flip it so that I could use the oval as a sentiment panel.

The two panels of plaid have a thin yellow stripe on them and that's where the yellow base and yellow brads come from.

Here's a close-up of those flowers!  I love the dimension and softness it adds to the card.
Now, head on over to the Our Creative Corner and check out all the samples from the awesome Design Team.  We'd love you to play along with us!  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!!

Cherished Forever...

Tuesday, May 11, 2010

Hello!  It turns out that Halle did have strep throat.  She's feeling about 95% better since she started on the antibiotic.  Now we are just keeping our fingers crossed that no one else comes down with it.  We did have a relaxing morning since Halle couldn't go back to school yet.

For my card today I used this week's CPS sketch. I used some My Mind's Eye paper again.  I think you guys will be happy when I finally run out.  I just love it so much.  The rectangle element with the birds was a die cut that came with the paper.  It had a border on the top that I sliced off.
The word "forever" comes from the Papertrey Ink set "Friends 'til the end".
Just wanted to share that I somehow managed to grow something!  I do not have a green thumb and was surprised to see this little plant sprouting this morning.  New life!!!

Hope you all are having a fabulous day!

OCC Challenge - Anniversary Inspiration

Saturday, May 8, 2010

Hello!  Happy weekend!!!  Today I have a card for this week's Our Creative Corner challenge.  This week, Loretta challenged us to make an anniversary card using this anniversary gift chart for inspiration.  For my card, I used some "diamonds" and "silk".  Really it's satin and rhinestones.
I love this sentiment, "Hope this year is your best one yet".  It can be used for birthdays, anniversaries, back to school, etc.  That's one thing I really think about when I buy a new stamp set.  I really want to get my moneys worth and be able to use the set for many occasions.

Hop on over to Our Creative Corner and see what the rest of the design team created.  It's going to be fun to see where you all take this challenge.

Have a great weekend!  Happy Mother's Day to all you Mom's out there!!!

PS.  This card is also for the Papertrey Paper Dolls sketch challenge.

I love you so much...

Tuesday, May 4, 2010

Hello!  I'm here with a card using this week's CPS sketch.  I know I've said it a million times, but I love simple sketches.  Totally my style.  Today I used papers from the Love Me Do collection from My Mind's Eye.  Love the colors in this collection.

This card is pretty simple, not much to explain.  I punched a small hole in the yellow paper, under the bow.  I fed the ribbon through and adhered it to the backside of the card.  I then made a bow and used glue dots to put it on top of the ribbon.  Long story short, the strip of ribbon and the bow are not from one piece of ribbon.

My husband will be going on a business trip soon and I'm going to stick this in his suitcase.  Well, hope you all are having a great day!!!  I'll see ya tomorrow =)
