Funky SC174!

Wednesday, April 30, 2008

I love this American Crafts designer paper! It's from a series called "Play". I used 3 different sheets, 2 were the dotted stripes and another one for the flower cut-outs. The card comes from this sketch, at SCS and its a long, skinny card. The stripes on the bottom are actually on the inside of the card. You can get a better view in the second picture. The flowers are supposed to make a sort of oval, to go with the sketch. Enjoy your day!

Finished Size: 9 1/4" x 4"
Cardstock: Really Rust (SU!)
Designer Paper: American Crafts, Play Series (Button Button, Sand Box, and Jigsaw Puzzle)
Accessories: Jumbo Brads (Making Memories), Flowers (Darice)

TLC166!

Yay! I'm back to scrapping! I took part in this really fun challenge on Splitcoast this morning. It's called a two-way open card. You can find the measurements and instructions here. The pictures show the card opened and closed. The ribbon slides off and then you open the card. I'm still using the designer paper from my new paper stack from Me & My Big Ideas. I love every page! They come in 5x7 sheets, perfect for card making and only about $4 for 32 sheets. Now I'm off to buy some recycle bins and a Brita water pitcher to start going GREEN!
Paper: Brilliant Blue, Yo Yo Yellow, 4 designs from Paper Stack (Me & My Big Ideas)
Accessories: Blue Grosgrain Ribbon (Offray), White Felt Thickers (American Crafts)

My loot!

Sunday, April 27, 2008

We are finally back from Florida and I don't have any projects to share with you! So, I took this picture of all the stuff I bought at the Scrapbook Clearance Store. I only spent $8.31!!! I made sure I only bought what I would use. Here's what I bought:

5 sheets of American Crafts designer paper (pattern front and solid coordinating back)
1 pack of white felt Thickers from American Crafts
Fab Flowers from Queen & Company (30 pieces)
Alpha Betty from Queen & Company (26 pieces)
Fontastics Chipboard Letters by Queen & Company (52 pieces)
Mini Sprinkles (brads) by Queen & Company (40 brads)

I can't wait to get back to scrapping tomorrow! I'm also excited to buy a few GREEN things for the house when I go shopping tomorrow. We are finally going to start recycling. The city we live in does not have free recycling pick-up, so you either have to pay extra to get your items picked up or haul it all to the recycling center. We are finally going to start hauling it to the center. I can't believe how much stuff we've just been tossing away. I've also been looking into chemical-free cleaners, organic foods and composting. I don't want to do too much too soon, but I'm really excited about doing my part and teaching the kids to reuse, reduce, and recycle. See you tomorrow!

Day at the beach & 2 cards

Monday, April 21, 2008

Hi everyone! We spent the day at the beach and it couldn't have been more perfect. You can't beat the water, breeze, and sun combo. Halle is a total beach babe and was in all her glory at the beach. Colin on the other hand was afraid of the water and spent most of the time sitting in his chair or playing in the sand. Enjoy the pics below.
I made these two cards before we set out for the beach. They use the exact same supplies, sticking with my limited supply theme for the trip. The one on the left is for Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge. Also, my sister-in-law and I made a trip to the scrapbook clearance store and it was CLOSED. Oh well, we will definitely try again later this week.
Paper: DP from Me & My Big Ideas Paper Stack - Modern Milan, Whisper White (SU!)
Accessories: Flowers (Darice- Finishing Accents), Jumbo Brads (Making Memories), Rub-ons (Kelly Panacci Inc.)

Destin, Florida!

Saturday, April 19, 2008

We arrived early this morning at 2:30am! So far we've walked on the beach, went swimming in the pool, and took a super long nap. I made a pit stop at Michaels to get some paper and rub-ons. I'm challenging myself to use just limited supplies and make a few cards on our trip. I brought along my Scrap, Paper, Scissors tote with just a few supplies, no stamps. I hear there is an awesome Scrapbooking Clearance Center down here. I can't wait to go!

Right now we are playing Guitar Hero and drinking strawberry daiquiris. Not a bad way to end the day. Hopefully I'll have some pictures from our vacation and a card or two to show tomorrow.

WT161 & SFYTT

Thursday, April 10, 2008

I really liked the layout of my last card (Jen del Muro's SFYTT) so I used that same layout for today's ways to use it challenge. The challenge was to scrounge up some eyelets and use them on a card. This is the very first time I've used these particular eyelets that I received free with one of my SU! orders years ago Now I know why they were free. Brads are so much easier to use and the only tools required are your hands.

On another note, I have started to babysit a little boy one day a week. Today was my first day with Aleck and he did so well. I'm really looking forward to the days I watch him. Isn't he cute? He's almost two months old.

Stamps: Take Three, Warm Words
Paper: Barely Banana, DP from Doodlebug Designs
Ink: Only Orange, Yo Yo Yellow
Accessories: Large Oval Eyelets (SU), Yellow Ribbon (Offray), Foam Tape

This going to be short because I'm on way out the door to pick up Halle from preschool. Here's a card I made this morning using Jen del Muro's SFYTT (sketch for you to try) combined with today's technique lover's challenge where you hade to use layers of ribbon on your card. Let me know if I've left anything out. I'm typing in a hurry. TFL!

TECC1-- Another Taylor Challenge

Sunday, April 6, 2008

Wow! It was so gorgeous here today! The best day of the year by far (weather wise). We spent a good deal of time playing outside with the kids and then my hubby and I went to see the KY Symphony Orchestra for a little enrichment. It must have gotten my creative juices flowing because I came home and made this card.

This the second week I've participated in Taylor Vanbruggen's sketch challenge. Her sketch is to the left and is a little more complicated than the cards I normally do. There are a lot of layers in this card. The yellow patterned paper came from a mat pack of pastel baby colors. Thanks for looking!
Stamps: Bundle of Joy
Paper: Whisper White, Buckaroo Blue, Yellow Patterns from mat pack
Ink: Night of Navy
Accessories: Dimensionals, Square Punch, White Grosgrain Ribbon,Watercolor Pencils

Halle and I love to watch MACMs and try to make the card shown. The cards are always pretty simple but have have a big impact. Click here to see the card Kristina made and above is the card Halle and I made. Since we weren't home at all on Monday, we watched the video and made the card last night.

Red's Opening Day Pictures!

Tuesday, April 1, 2008

Even though it rained a lot, we still had a pretty good time at the game yesterday. It was after the game that was not fun. Make sure you scroll down all the way to find out what happened. I may not have any cards to post today because I am so worn out.

We started off by having lunch at Gameworks at Newport on the Levee with our friends Keith and Cindy and then we walked the bridge to the game. We were almost to the stadium when it started to pour down rain! It had rained off and on all morning. After a 30 minute rain delay, the game started.
During the National Anthem:

The First Pitch:

Team Lachey from "Clash of the Choirs":

The Game:

Now for the bad part. Our group walked the bridge back to Newport, sat in the parking garage traffic FOREVER! Scott drove me to the park-n-ride to get our truck and our truck was GONE! Apparently the park-n-ride is no longer a park-n-ride and it's a tow-away zone. We both passed the signs and didn't see them. We had to drive to a bad part of Cincinnati to recover the truck and pay a hefty $110!!!! That will put a damper on any good day. We ended up getting home around 8:30, missing dinner completely (not to mention only getting to see our kids for a few minutes before they went to bed). Anyway, I'm sure you can understand if I'm too exhausted to be creative today.
