Papertrey Ink August Blog Hop...

Saturday, August 25, 2012

It's time for Papertrey Ink's monthly blog hop!  It's been a few months since I was able to participate, so I'm really excited I had the time to participate this go round.
The theme this month is autumn texture, think warm and cozy.  I used some really old Stampin' Up twill tape for the main texture on my card.  It was about an inch and a half thick, so I sliced it down the middle before weaving it in a basket-like pattern.

The flowers come from the set Icon Images that I received for attending the Stamp-A-Faire last year.  I stamped the flowers on cream card stock first and then cut them out with scissors.
The little tag was cut from a CSS die, Tags 2, and stamped with a sentiment from Mixed Messages.  I've had that stamp set FOREVER, it was one of the sets in my very first PTI order.

Thanks for hopping by!

Papertrey Ink January 2012 Blog Hop...

Wednesday, January 25, 2012

I should be doing a million and one other things right now, but I'm just going to quickly post this for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop.  The card on the left is one that I made last year for a Make-It-Monday Challenge and I just love it.  Click here to see that original post.  I happened to need a birthday card for my nephew today, so that's pretty much why I went in the direction I did.  Lots of masking going on here.
This card is pretty small, about 3"x 4".
Okay, off to wrap a present for my nephew to go with the card.

Have a great day!

A {Welcome Home} Card...

Wednesday, May 25, 2011

*This is my second post for today, make sure you scroll down to see both...
Hello!  Today is the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop and the theme is FLOWERS.  I saw this card on Maile Belles blog yesterday and I knew I wanted to CASE it.  I changed a lot on my card, but the idea came from her card.

The colors I chose came from the patterned paper.  It may be hard to see, but you can click on the pictures to see the wreath close up.
The middle of each flower is filled using white acrylic accents.  The dots flattened out when they dried, I was hoping they would keep their "pearl" look.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Hope you enjoy the hop.  Have a great day!

Papertrey Ink: April 2011 Blog Hop

Monday, April 25, 2011

Hey guys!  Hope everyone had a great Easter weekend.  Ours was great.  I was even able to sneak a nap yesterday.   Anyway, let's get down to business, shall we?  Today is the 25th and that means it's time for a Papertrey Ink Blog Hop.  This month's challenge was to create a masculine card.  Normally that is a pretty tough challenge for me, but I had the perfect patterned paper to it wasn't hard at all.

My card is pretty simple.  I wanted to include more pti products, I had pulled out my text style set and created a strip of text to apply to the bottom, but in the end I liked the card without it better.  I love the brads that look like screws.  Without those this card is pretty neutral looking, but I think the screws add a manly touch.

Thanks so much for hopping by!

Papertrey Ink: March 2011 Blog Hop

Friday, March 25, 2011

Hello!  Here's my card for this month's Papertrey Ink Blog Hop.  I'm so glad that they now have their blog hops all day long.  I always forget about it until it's too late.  This way I was able to make a card the day of and play along.  This month's challenge was to use embroidery floss on your card in a new way.  I use embroidery floss all the time on my cards, but I wanted to do something different.  This idea actually came to me while I was running on treadmill this afternoon (4 miles, go me!).

I pulled the colors for the thread and ink from the patterned paper.  To create the "stars" I punched circles in three different sizes.  I used a pencil to first draw a "t" and then an "x" across the circles.  I laid them out on my card and used a paper piercer to pierce the center of the circle and then just outside the lines I created with the pencils.  I removed the circle templates and threaded the floss.  Easy peasy!
I added clear gems for a little added sparkle.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I can's wait to start hopping and see everyone's creations with floss. Have a great weekend!!!

Have a great day!

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop - January 2011

Tuesday, January 25, 2011

Hello blog hoppers!  It seems like a while since I've been able to participate in the PTI blog hop.  I'm so glad that Papertrey made their hops all day long so people like me that forgot still have time to participate.  This month the challenge is to use a PTI stamp set that you've bought and not used yet (none of those here!) or to use a set that you haven't used in a while.

So, for my card I chose to use the sentiment from A Wreath For All Seasons.  I bought the set to make Christmas cards, which I did, and then they haven't seen any ink since. I also used Text Style to create a block background type of effect.  I thought I would use this set all the time, but I haven't used it in a while either.
Thanks so much for stopping by for the hop.  Have a great day!!!

Clear & Simple Stamps - Mushy For You Blog Hop

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

Do we have a treat for you today!  On the first of the month Clear & Simple Stamps announced the SOTM, Fun Fungi.  Today is a group post day where the Design Team was challenged to create a set of Valentine's Day cards using Fun Fungi.  This will be a monthly feature and we are kicking it off today with a blog hop.

The blog hop starts at the Clear & Simple Stamps Blog and my blog is the second stop.  Here's the set of Valentine's Cards I came up with.  These cards are tiny, like Vday cards your kids would hand out.  The dimensions are 2.5" x 3".  The card base is Dare to be a Diva Red and it was cut using my Silhouette Digital Cutter.  By the way, this card stock works great in the machine.  Cuts perfectly every time.
The mushroom stamp that I chose was just begging to be paper pieced.  I stamped the image on On the Catwalk Cream card stock using Perfect Little Black Dress ink and then the sentiment using Dare to be a Diva Red ink.  I colored the mushroom stem and grass with markers.  I stamped the mushroom tops on some red patterned paper, cut them out and glued them on the mushrooms.  I sponged the edges with red ink and applied the cream panel to the scalloped card base using foam dimensionals.
Here's a close-up of one of the cards.  Your next stop on the hop is my super talented friend, Kim HowardHere is a list of the other designers in case you somehow lose your way.  I know how easy it is to get lost amidst all these inspirational blogs.

{Dana Grothaus} - you're here!

Thanks so much for joining me today on the hop.  I hope you enjoy seeing all the Valentine's Day projects and it encourages you to make something of your own.  Have a great day!

A "Holiday Greetings" Card...

Monday, October 25, 2010

Hey guys!  I always forget about the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop until it's too late.  This time Nichole reminded us the day before and she's letting you link your blog all day.  This was such a big help because, I forgot.  So this morning, I made a card, tore it up and made the card you see above.  By the way, the challenge this month was to make a card celebrating winter holidays other than Christmas.  I really like the sentiment "Holiday Greetings" since It covers any holiday.

This card also uses the Mojo Monday sketch, which I love because it's pretty simple.  All of the papers on my card come from the Kaiser Craft paper pad, 'Tis the Season.  The sentiment circle is a die cut from the pad.
Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope your week is off to a great start!!!

Paper Maniac Birthday Blog Hop

Friday, September 10, 2010

I hope you are ready for a hopping good time!!!  Today we are celebrating Paper Maniac's First Birthday by having a hop along blog hop.  If you arrived here from Angie's blog, you are right where you are supposed to be.  If not, you'll want to head over to the Paper Maniac Inspirations Blog and start at the beginning so you don't miss a thing.

I've been with Paper Maniac for a whole year now (wow it went by fast!) and have loved being a part of this blossoming company.  I've had so much fun trying new products and "meeting" new people.  Patti, the owner keeps us all up to date on how the store is doing.  It's so fun getting glimpse at what goes on behind-the-scenes at an online store.  There was a lot of trial and error at first, but a lot of successes, and that's all thanks to you all for being such great supporters.

For my project today, I made a bright "hooray" card along with a wine bottle tag that says "party".
Here's a close-up of the card.  I used squares of Kaiser Craft's Hippy Girl paper and arranged them like a quilt.  I pierced holes along the lines and used embroidery floss to really give it a quilted look.
Here's a close-up of the stitching and the dimension that's on the sentiment panel.  I also used some SRM Press stickers for the "hooray" sentiment and the "party" on the wine bottle tag.  It's hard to see in the first photo, but the tag has some stitching on it as well.
There are a ton of prizes that will be given away in celebration of Paper Maniac's First Birthday.  You can find a complete list by clicking here.  Make sure you leave a comment here and on all the other blog hop posts for your chance to win!!!  Leave a comment by Sunday night at 8:00 central and the prizes will be drawn shortly after.  Be sure to "LIKE" Paper Maniac on Facebook, and you may win a prize as well.

Now, the next stop on the Paper Maniac Birthday Blog Hop is Stephanie!!!

Thanks so much for joining in the festivities!!!  Have a great weekend!!!

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop - June

Sweet Blush
Kraft
Smokey Shadow
Raspberry Fizz

Hello!  Today I made a cute little 'get well' card.  I never seem to have any when I need them, so I thought I should stock up.  My card base is a little smaller than a standard A2 card.  I trimmed the edges so the top note die took up almost the entire card front.  I stamped the bottom portion with a Text Style stamp in Pink Passion (which is a great match up for Raspberry Fizz).  I tore an edge of Smokey Shadow to put behind the ribbon.  It's the very first time I've ever used that color, and I love it.  I sponges around the perimeter of the top note panel with Basic Black, since I don't have any gray ink.

It's hard to tell in the photo, but the button is a perfect match.  It's looks like pewter in real life.  I threaded the button with a sliver of Sweet Blush card stock.  Such a handy trick when you don't have the right thread color.
Speaking of the photo, I took 100+ pictures of this card.  I'm trying out a photo box I made and trying to get just the right lighting.  It's tricky.  The pictures still didn't come out the way I wanted.  I'm still playing.  Any advice would be great.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you have a great day!!!

Papertrey May Blog Hop Challenge

Tuesday, May 25, 2010

Hello!  I made this card for Papertrey Ink's May Blog Hop.  The challenge this month was to use felt on your card.  I haven't had the pleasure of using PTI's new felt, so I decided to use what I had on hand.

This is such a simple card.  The felt I used comes in one long, skinny piece with adhesive already on the back, like a sticker.  I applied the felt to the card and added some silver pearls.  I cut out one of the daisies from a scrap piece to adhere to the sentiment panel.

Thanks so much for checking out my card and  blog.  I hope you all are enjoying the hop!

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop - April

Sunday, April 25, 2010

Hello! Thanks for stopping by for the Papertrey Ink April Blog Hop! I will admit that I totally forgot about this until the reminder popped up on my calendar this morning. I was reminded why exactly I don't scrap on weekends-- because the kids are home! Not that I don't enjoy doing creative things with my kids, because I do. But it is difficult to work beside them when they are asking me a million questions and asking me how to do stuff. It's easier when I'm not working on my own thing.

Anyway, here is my card! This month's challenge was to use tissue paper on your card. I'd really have liked to do something out of the box and totally creative with tissue paper, but I just didn't have the time or energy today. So, I just made these cute little flowers using dies, tissue paper and a little sponging of pink ink.
I used about 18 layers of tissue for the center flower and 12 for the smaller ones. They all stay together using a mini brown brad.
Thanks so much for taking a look at my Blog Hop card. Have a great day!

February Papertrey Ink Blog Hop

Thursday, February 25, 2010

Hello! Tonight is the February Papertrey Ink Blog Hop. I'm so glad I came across a blog this morning reminding me about the hop. It's been a few months since I've been able to participate, simply because I forgot!

Anyhow, this month Nichole Heady asked us to check out the PTI design team gallery and pick a card to CASE. This is the card I picked, designed by Lisa Johnson.
I kept the layout pretty much the same since that was what really drew me to her card. Lisa used Polka Dot Basics and I used Text Style. Lisa and I both used Everyday Button Bits for our image and sentiment, we just used different ones. I wanted my card to have a masculine feel, so I left off the bow and centered the sentiment panel. I also used an oval for the image instead of a circle.
The sentiment strip I used actually has a curve to it. I used a foam dimensional in the center to achieve this. I hope you can see it in the above picture.
The patterned paper I used is from Basic Grey's Origins paper pad.

I hope you all are enjoying the hop! Thanks so much for stopping by!!!
