Merry Christmas Gift Card Holders...

Thursday, December 10, 2009

Like I said yesterday, I'll be making a bunch of gift card holders. These two are pretty much the same, just different orientations. They are for men, so no fluffy ribbon, flowers, or rhinestones. Once again I used my own tutorial as a guideline.

And here's the inside:
Have a great day!!!

Paper Maniac Wednesday - Gift Card Holder

Tuesday, December 8, 2009

It's Paper Maniac Wednesday here on my blog! We've been talking a lot about last minute gifts on the Paper Maniac Blog. I think a lot of people use gift cards for last minute gifts so I made up a gift card holder. I used this tutorial that I made last year. I altered the dimensions a bit to make a rectangular card instead of a square. My finished card size is 3.25" x 4.25". I'm giving a lot of gift cards this year, so you'll get to see a bunch in the coming weeks.
Make sure you check out the Paper Maniac Store. They have a big sale going on right now!!!

Sending a smile across the miles...

Hello! I decided to play around with some of the stickers and papers from Basic Grey's Nook & Pantry Collection. I ended up with a shabby chic looking card. The sentiment panel is a sticker. The centers of the flowers were originally yellow, so I covered them with some pink gems. Instead of sticking the sticker directly on the card stock, I popped it up on some foam dimensionals. The sticker has a very smooth finish and I was worried that the ink from my stamp would smear, but it dried just like normal.
Such a fun and quick card. Hope you enjoyed today's card! Have a great day!

OCC Challenge - 12 Days of Christmas Inspiration

Saturday, December 5, 2009

Hello there! Today is Saturday and that means a new challenge is up at Our Creative Corner. This week, Jenny Gropp challenged us to be inspired by the song, The 12 Days of Christmas. For this challenge, I took the line "...and a partridge in a pear tree" or more specifically, just the word "pear". I took out my Basic Grey Nook & Pantry Collection for the paper used on the card. The pears are on one side, and the green cross-hatch design is on the flip-side.
The words "simply the" are printed on my computer and then cut into individual letters. I've seen this done all over the place, but this is the first time I've tried it. It was very easy and a great way to say exactly what you want.

I hope you enjoy this week's challenge. Head on over to Our Creative Corner and see what parts of "The 12 Days of Christmas" the DT was inspired by. We would love you to play along! Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Merry & Bright...

Friday, December 4, 2009

Hello! Today's limited supply challenge at SCS was just too good to pass up. The challenge was that you could only use white paper and white embellishments and only one color ink. I pulled out all my white supplies and went to work. I used sticky tape around the edges and sprinkled on some iridescent glitter. I used a Martha Stewart punch for the snowflakes and they come out with the edges curled slightly. Perfect for a dimensional look.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I'll be back here tomorrow morning with an Our Creative Corner challenge. Thanks for stopping by today!

'Tis the Season...

Thursday, December 3, 2009

Hello there! My little guy is home with me today so I didn't have much time to create this morning. I decided to CASE a card from Dawn McVey. Here is the post that has the card I CASEd. I kept the layout the same, I just changed all the elements to a holiday theme. Such a clean layout.
I used to have a problem when I would see cards that had an element hanging "over the edge" until I realized that they would still fit in the envelope. I usually buy my envelopes at Wal-mart and they are 4.75" x 6.5". Also, this card is a tad bit smaller than A2 since I trimmed off the edges where the cuttlebug folder was too small to emboss. KWIM?

Thanks for visiting my blog today!

Paper Maniac Wednesday - Tree Ornament Tutorial & Tag

Wednesday, December 2, 2009

Hello! I wrote this tutorial for the Paper Maniac Newsletter and thought I would post it here. There is also a bonus idea at the very end. Enjoy!!!
This is an easy ornament to make with your kids. In fact, that’s how I came up with this idea to begin with. Both of my kids needed an ornament for their classroom tree last year and of course they needed them the next day. I made one first, and then gave them the supplies and they copied mine. I hope you enjoy this tutorial and get to make a few of these with your kids. The finished ornament can be easily attached to a tag or on a card.

Supply List:

Floss or String

3 Squared of Patterned Paper (the paper I used came for the Basic Grey Collection Nook & Pantry)

Snail Adhesive

½” Strip of Brown Card Stock about 6” long

Star Sticker

Directions:

-Apply adhesive to the backside of squares and fold to form 3 triangles.

-Arrange triangles on brown cardstock as shown to create tree and trunk. Glue into place.
-Take the excess brown card stock at the top and fold it over to create loop.

-Thread the floss or string through the loop and tie. Place the star atop the tree. Use the string to hang the ornament on your tree.

Now, here's a bonus idea. I took the ornament and used it as an embellishment on a 3" x 3" tag. Perfect to accompany a gift. You just peel the tree off and use it as an ornament on your tree. The string is rolled up behind the tree.
If you like this tree, check out this tag and this card. Don't forget to check out the Paper Maniac Blog for more holiday ideas.

Thank You...

Hello! Just a simple and elegant card for you today. The base of my card is Lavender Moon with Text Style Background stamped in Versamark. Such a neat effect. I love putting pearls as the "body" of the butterfly.
This is such a bad picture. I think my shadow is making it so dark, but you get the point.

Have a great day everyone! I'll be back tomorrow with a tutorial!!!

Hello Friend...

Monday, November 30, 2009

Hi there! I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving. Our day was packed with food and family and then we did pretty much nothing the rest of the weekend, which was wonderful. I made this card this morning using this Mojo Monday sketch. The sketch was so simple, I had to try it. I absolutely love this color combo. I used it last week on this card as well.
All the patterned papers come from Basic Grey's Nook & Pantry collection. I hope you enjoyed today's card! Thanks so much for stopping by!

OCC Challenge - Sketch Challenge

Saturday, November 28, 2009

Hello! It's Saturday and that means another challenge from Our Creative Corner. This week we were challenged to create a card using a sketch. I have to say that this card looks a lot like the cards I am sending out this year, just a different color combination. I think this color combination is very calming.

Head on over to Our Creative Corner and see what the rest of the DT created using the sketch.

I hope you all survived Black Friday! I did go out for a bit in the late morning and marked a few people off my list. Enjoy your weekend!!!

Thankful...

Thursday, November 26, 2009

Happy Thanksgiving!!!! I made this card this morning while thinking of you, my wonderful readers and supporters. I am so thankful for all the wonderful people that visit my blog. I truly appreciate you. You guys give me the warm fuzzies everyday. I wish I could send this card to each and every one of you and give you a big hug!

Okay, now that the mushy part is over, onto the card! I used mostly supplies from Basic Grey's Nook & Pantry Collection. The letters and red "ribbon" are stickers from this collection. I had a heck of a time arranging the letters, but they are very forgiving and I was able to manipulate them quite a bit.
I hope you are all spending the day with your families and friends. Have a safe and happy day filled with lots of food!!!
