A {Gratitude} Card...

Friday, October 5, 2012

Hey guys!  I have a fun one layer card to share with you today.  Don't be deceived, this card looks simple, but it was a lot of work.

I started with a kraft card base measuring 3.5" x 5 (my new favorite card size).  I used a t-square ruler and a pencil to make a grid of squares that were 3/4".  That was really the most time consuming.

From there I stamped the large and small flowers and then stamped the flower centers.  The flowers are from Papertrey's Iconic Images set and the flower centers come from CSS's Background Basics 2.

Here's to a great weekend!!!

Papertrey Ink August Blog Hop...

Saturday, August 25, 2012

It's time for Papertrey Ink's monthly blog hop!  It's been a few months since I was able to participate, so I'm really excited I had the time to participate this go round.
The theme this month is autumn texture, think warm and cozy.  I used some really old Stampin' Up twill tape for the main texture on my card.  It was about an inch and a half thick, so I sliced it down the middle before weaving it in a basket-like pattern.

The flowers come from the set Icon Images that I received for attending the Stamp-A-Faire last year.  I stamped the flowers on cream card stock first and then cut them out with scissors.
The little tag was cut from a CSS die, Tags 2, and stamped with a sentiment from Mixed Messages.  I've had that stamp set FOREVER, it was one of the sets in my very first PTI order.

Thanks for hopping by!

A Mehndi {Thank You} Card...

Wednesday, January 18, 2012

Hi there!  First off I want to thank you guys for all the get well comments I received yesterday.  You guys are awesome and it was just what I needed.  I went to the chiropractor this morning (third day in a row and going back again tomorrow) and left feeling so much better.  It was a really painful session, but in the end it was well worth it to feel a little normalcy.

So, onto today's card.  I had this card in my head since yesterday and knew exactly how to execute it, except the colors.  I went through my inks and put together a few muted shades.  The only thing I wish I did differently was to use a cream card base instead of white.
One of my biggest problems making clean and simple cards is that I always feel like I need to add something.  I chose to add clear page pebbles so that I added a little something, but they are clear.  This is a supply that has just been sitting around and I'm glad I could finally use them.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  See you soon!!!

A {Thinking of You} Card...

Thursday, January 12, 2012

Hey there!  It's been a while since I've made a grid card, they used to be my go-to layout.  I guess I've been a little more clean and simple lately.  Although this card is clean, it wasn't very simple to make.  I stamped the medallion in the center of a 3" square of card stock and then cut the square into  9 pieces.  The hardest part was not getting the pieces mixed up.  I'm afraid that might have happened.
I absolutely love the black baker's twine on this card.  I think it's the perfect finishing touch.  Black, white with a pop of color are my very favorite color schemes.

Today is my son's 7th birthday.  Colin is such a sweet and caring boy.  He's also hilarious.  We had a good time making treats for him to share with his class.  I hope my little man has a great day.  He was so excited for his birthday to get here.

Have a great day!

A Shabby Chic {Thinking of You} Card...

Monday, November 14, 2011

Look at me!  I totally remembered how to make a card. I hadn't planned on taking so long in between posts, but sometimes the mojo or the motivation is just not there.  I took a trip to Michaels on Friday since they had a huge sale on yarn + a 25% off your entire purchase coupon.  Anyway, I stocked up on yarn and lingered in the papercrafting department trying to find something that tickled my fancy, but I really didn't find anything.  I don't know what it is about Michaels, but I can have a gift card and coupons and still leave empty handed.
So, I ended up buying two paper pads by K & Co.  They are totally not my style.  I'm not a shabby chic person really, but I just had to buy something.  I think this card turned out pretty good though.  I really love the layout and the rhinestones.
It's actually been a while since I've used patterned paper on any of my cards.  It was fun mixing and matching patterned again.

Have a great day!

A {Thinking of You} Card...

Friday, October 14, 2011

Hey guys!  In a few short hours I'll be off to the Creating Keepsakes Convention in Cincinnati.  But, I thought I'd pop on here real fast and share a card I made yesterday but didn't have time to share.

This card was really fast and easy because it's a CASE of this card from Cristina Kowalczwk.  I think I have more of her cards pinned on my Pinterest boards than anyone else.
The colored strip is popped up on foam dimensionals and overhangs the sides of the card. Super easy!

Have a great day!

A {Thinking of You} Card...

Friday, September 9, 2011

I went down to my studio this morning with one goal in mind--to catch up on Bachelor Pad.  I can't believe I just admitted I watch that train wreck, but I do like to watch a little mindless tv while I get crafty.  I didn't have a card in mind like I usually do, but I did want to use the flowers from PTI's Iconic Images without the vase image.  My card evolved from there.

I started by making a 4.25" square card base and then trimming a post-it note to a 2.5" square and placing it in the center of the card as a mask.  I stamped the corners first using dark green and then the sides using light green.  Then I stamped the flowers in pink, removed the mask (the sharp, clean lines make me want to squeal), and stamped the sentiment in dark green.

I kept thinking it needed a little something, but I can't put my finger on it.  I do like the white space though.  Check out the supply list!  Just paper, ink, and stamps!

It's the weekend already!  I love four day work weeks!  Enjoy your weekend!!!

A {Thinking of You} Card...

Monday, August 29, 2011

Hi there!  This is a really late post for me, but I've gotten so much stuff done today that I don't even feel bad about that.  Okay, this little number I made today is just like a card that everyone made (and I fell in love with) at PTI's Stamp-A-Faire.  I changed the layout just a tad by making the card a square and I obviously changed the colors.
The ribbon that used started off white.  I used a copic marker to color the ribbon so it would coordinate with the Creamsicle Cardigan flowers.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

A {Thank you for your kindness} Card...

Friday, August 19, 2011

Hello & Happy Friday!!!  I'm happy to report that I survived the first "week" of school.  I'm starting to feel better about the whole thing and getting used to the idea of the kids being gone all day.  I actually miss them, which is something I don't get to feel very much in the summer when I'm with them 24/7.

This is a fun little card I threw together today, right after I ran on the treadmill (nice how I slipped that in there! I haven't been on the treadmill in months, but it feels so good to have that first workout out of the way).  Anyway, where was I? Oh, I made this card and I sewed again.  My little trick is working great and I can hopefully record a little video of that over the weekend.
This card has lots of dimension and is a little bottom-heavy.  But I like how it turned out.  A happy little card.

I thought I would share a couple pics of my kiddos on their first day of school.

I can't believe I have a 1st grader and a 3rd grader.  Time flies!

Well, I hope you all have a great weekend!  Thanks for stopping by!!!

A {Thinking of You Today & Always} Card...

Wednesday, August 17, 2011

Hello there!  Look at me, posting before noon!  The kids are back to school and I am filled with mixed emotions.  They were so ready to go back to school and I thought I was ready for that too.  This is the first year that they will both be gone all day.  I have a list a mile long of things I want to do and accomplish, but I'm just feeling like I'm having an identity crisis this morning.  I did feel better make this card for one of my besties.  She is having a rough day today too.  I love making cards with a particular person in mind.

I'm loving this card for two reasons.  I broke out my sewing machine (because I'm going to attempt to hem my Mom's curtains) and I sewed in a straight line.  I think I even learned something.  If it continues to work for me, I'll share that tip with you later.  The other thing is the ribbon.  I really love those knots.  I don't really know where the idea came from, but I loved that it worked.
Are you all enjoying these larger photos?  I was playing abound with the html the other day and figured it out. I'll hopefully be working on a new banner soon.  I have plans, big plans.  Just hope I don't screw anything up and delete my blog by accident!  That would be a rough day.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Have a great day!

A {Thinking of You} Card...

Friday, August 5, 2011

I think this is the first card I'm sharing using the new limited edition stamp set that I received at the PTI Stamp-A-Faire.  This set is full of iconic images like the silhouette I used on my card.  I also love that this set includes a few larger than normal sentiments.

I masked the center of the card with a square post-it note, stamped the text, then outlined the pot-it note with pencil to create a frame.  I removed the post-it note and stamped the silhouette and sentiment.  The finishing touches are the rhinestones and the floss.

Have a wonderful weekend!
