Paper Maniac Thursday - Pile it on!

Thursday, August 12, 2010

Hello!  It's Thursday and around here that means a card featuring Paper Maniac.  This week the design team was challenged to make a card that piled on the layers (at least 4).  As soon as I saw the sketch challenge from SCS, I knew it would be a perfect fit.  I started out with a kraft card base and then all of the other papers are from the Nook & Pantry collection from Basic Grey.  When I am making a card with so many layers I always use a collection since I know all the papers coordinate.

The cupcake is cut out from a sheet of cupcakes and is popped up on foam dimensionals.  I added the pearls to the scalloped edge and distressed the floral layer to give the card a sort of shabby chic feel.
Thanks so much for visiting today.  Have a wonderful day!!!

PS.  Paper Maniac just marked down the entire Nook & Pantry Collection (as well as other BG papers)!!!

Paper Maniac Thursday - Recycle It!

Thursday, July 15, 2010

Hi!  Thanks for joining me here for Paper Maniac Thursday.  The theme this week is using recycled items on your cards/projects.  I had a hard time coming up with something to put on a card.  I really thought about it and finally decided to use something that we all recycle--gift bags!  I don't think I've ever thrown away a gift bag.  I know I still have several from when I got married 8 years ago.  I re-use these all the time but have not ever altered one.  I went to my stash and selected this iridescent white bag.  I paired is with some paper from the Nook & Pantry collection from Basic Grey.  I cannot begin to tell you how easy this was.
When I was finished with the bag, I made a coordinating tag.  My daughter's birthday is coming up so I thought I would make it for her.  The sentiment stamp is an individual stamp from Hero Arts.  The cupcake is cut from a whole sheet of cupcakes also from the Nook & Pantry collection.

Have a wonderful day!

Girly, You Rock!

Wednesday, July 14, 2010

Hello!  My card for today uses the sketch challenge from SCS.   I knew right away that I wanted to use a bunch of patterned paper.  I pulled out some Basic Grey paper, Nook & Pantry.  It's been collecting dust for a while, but I have no idea why.  This collection is great.
This card has a lot of dimension.  I used foam dimensionals between every layer.  Even though this card is filled with busy patterns, I was still able to keep it clean and simple.  Since this card has so many sharp edges, I decided to round the bottom corners.  I like to mix hard and soft elements.

Thanks so much for checking out my card today.  I hope you have a wonderful day!!!
