A {Thanks for Being a Deer} Card....

Monday, December 5, 2011

Hey guys!  It's been a while, right?  Well, I didn't share here on the blog, but I've been looking for a part time job since my kids are both in school.  I was hired to be a substitute teacher and substitute para-educator (teacher's assistant) in my kids' school district.  A lot of it is last minute when a teacher is sick, so that's what happened on Friday.   I worked with a group of autistic kids and I have to say that a really enjoyed it.  I was really nervous since I don't know a lot about autism, but I think I did fine and the day went smoothly.  I'm really looking forward to doing it again, although it sounds weird that I'm hoping that the regular teachers get sick, LOL.

Anyway, enough chatter from me, let's get down to business.  I made this card this morning, no person in mind and it doesn't use any challenges.  This is just where my crafty mood took me.  I've been really attracted to cards lately where the sentiment and image overlap.
I used a paper piercer to puncture a hole in the corners of the cream rectangle and then threaded the brown floss through.

Have a great day!

A {Nuts About You} Card...

Wednesday, September 28, 2011

Today is the fourth day of our cruise and this morning our kids opened this card:
This card is probably my least favorite out of all the cards I made for the kids, but I know they will love it.  For some reason some of the leaves look yellow, when in real life they are a minty green.  This card is one layer and uses two completely different sets of stamps from tow different stamp companies.

Today we'll be exploring the island of St. Maarten.  We are planning to go zip-lining.  I'm really excited about it!  I've never done it before and think it'll be a blast.

Have a great day!

A {Stop and smell the flowers} Card...

Wednesday, September 7, 2011

Okay, so this morning has been so frustrating.  Let me tell you about it.  I recently joined my brother's Fantasy Football League, so I owe him $10.  I thought it would be fun to make him a football themed card and send him the money in it. I get down to business designing a quick but impressive football card using Silhouette Studio.  All I need to do is cut it.  I turn on my Silhouette and it's acting up--again!  I try a few different things and end up calling Silhouette customer service.  They were helpful but their solution didn't work so now I need to send in my Silhouette to have it repaired.  Luckily it's still under warranty but I'm still bummed I won't get to send my brother his card since the money is due soon.  Bummer.
So, what's a girl to do?  I turn to Pinterest and check out some cards that I have pinned on my "Cards to CASE" board.  I decided to CASE the layout of this card by Jen del Muro.
I think this may be the first time I've used the Forest Friends set since I received it in my goodie bag at PTI's Stamp-A-Faire.  I like how the overall card is CAS but the squares each contain a scene that's not CAS.

My day has gotten a little better since making this cute and cheery card.  Hope your day is great!
