OCC Color Challenge

Saturday, August 28, 2010

Hello!  I hope you are enjoying your Saturday so far.  I have a card to share with you for this week's Our Creative Corner challenge.  This week is a color challenge.  These color swatches are Stampin' Up colors, but feel free to use whatever similar colors you have on hand--I did!!!

I've been dying to make a flower like this for so long.  I can never remember to do it when I'm in my studio.  Anyway, the flower is made from 4 scalloped circles that are folded in half and then in half again.  The red polka dot paper I used is actually from a Christmas paper pad.  The back of the patterned paper was white, so I took a sponge and sponged it yellow.  I really like the contrast it adds.
The leaves on my card are one stamp, but they were too close together so I stamped one side first and then the other, leaving just enough room for my flower.  The stamp is from PTI's Blooming Button Bits and you are supposed to use buttons where I used the paper flower.

If you didn't come here from the Our Creative Corner blog and check out the other card samples from the talented design team.  I hope you can join us this week.  Have a great day!!!

One-of-a-kind Friend...

Tuesday, October 13, 2009

Hello! I thought I would participate in today's color challenge at SCS. The colors were teal, apricot, and chocolate. I have never used Apricot Appeal, so I thought I would give this challenge a try. I embossed the teal strip with a swiss dots embossing folder and then used a brown marker on the raised dots. Then I sanded the dots to give it an aged look.

Well, thanks for stopping by today! Hope you are having a great day!!!

A Note of Thanks...

Tuesday, August 25, 2009

Hello! Today's card uses the color challenge at SCS. The colors to use were red, kraft, and chocolate. I adore earthy colors, so this challenge was right up my alley! The flowers are stamped on kraft cardstock and then matted on chocolate. This card is simple and clean. I added a bow and then took it off. I think the flowers add so much interest that a bow is not needed. Also, check out my list of accessories! One item!
Hope you have a great day! The weather here has been amazing. Fall is coming!

A super simple card for today

Tuesday, August 18, 2009

Hey guys! I'm starting to settle into my new schedule with the kids being back in school (Colin is only half day). I wanted to do a clean and simple card today using today's color challenge at SCS. The colors were Close to Cocoa, Taken with Teal, and Very Vanilla. The patterned paper I used was perfect for the challenge. I didn't have any Taken with Teal ink, so I used Night of Navy. I think this card is very boring, but I'd like to create it using brighter colors. I think it would change the whole feel. By the way, this card is a CASE of this card by Andrea Walford.

Also, I used this tutorial for faux threading the buttons. I love it! So easy!
Have a great day everyone!

A Torn & Crinkled Flower Card

Thursday, June 11, 2009

Hello! Is is Friday yet? We have such a fun weekend planned, I can't wait! Anyway, so much went into this card. The colors are from Kristina Werner's latest color challenge. The ways to use it challenge for today is to use crinkled paper. The technique for the flowers came from a tutorial from Dawn McVey, although I couldn't get my petals to curl! Okay, with all that said, I'm really not sure about this card. I'm not sure if I love it or hate it. What do you think?

Color Inspiration Challenge

Wednesday, February 18, 2009

Hey there! The card I made today is for Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration Challenge #42. The colors are Really Rust, More Mustard, Kiwi Kiss, and Whisper White. I was a little leery of this combo, but I think it looks nice with all the white. This card uses the Top Note die and the Birds & Blooms dies from Stampin' Up. I love those dies but I'm itching to get some more. To participate in the challenge or to see what everyone else created, click here.

Don't forget to click here for the BLOG CANDY Giveaway!!!!

CC186 - So Thankful

Tuesday, September 30, 2008

I very rarely participate in the Color Challenges at SCS because I never have all 3 colors. Thankfully this week was different. The colors for today's challenge are Baja Breeze, Really Rust, and Chocolate Chip. I didn't have Baja Breeze, but I had a scrap piece of patterned paper that was close to Tempting Turquoise, so I just sponged a little brown over it to mute it a little. The Natural's Ivory card stock is also sponged with brown. You can't tell from the picture, but the pumpkin is embossed in black. I colored it in with watercolor pencils.

This card is a CASE from a 'Close to my Heart' ad from the October issue of PaperCrafts. I couldn't find an online picture so I just snapped one from the magazine.

Have a lovely rest of your day!
