A {Home} Card...

Monday, February 7, 2011

Hey there!  Happy Monday to you all!!!  I'm a bit tired today after staying up late and having to drive home after the SuperBowl was over.  The kids definitely had a hard time getting up and ready for school.

This card uses this week's CPS Sketch.  I took a lot of liberties with this sketch, I hope they don't mind.  This card uses paper from the Echo Park collection called Life is Good.  This collection comes with a two sheets of stickers, one is alpha letters and one is images and sentiments.  I used both kinds on this card.  As soon as I saw the "home" sticker I remembered seeing a father and daughter on Ellen singing a song called "home".  It is a cute, whimsical song and the little girl is absolutely precious.  Click here to see the video on Ellen. So, that's how the sentiment came about.

I used a white gel pen to draw an apostrophe between the "i" and "m"  but I just realized that you really can't see it at the angle I took the picture.  I also just realized that I didn't use any stamping on this card, that hardly ever happens!

Have a great day!

OCC Challenge - Fa la la felt!

Saturday, December 25, 2010

Merry Christmas everyone!!!  I have a new Our Creative Corner to share with you today.  Get out your new crafty goodies and play along with us this week.  Speaking of new crafty goodies, my hubby got me a Silhouette SD for Christmas.  It's been on my Amazon Wishlist for quite a while and I was planning on purchasing it after the new year.  I'm so excited to play with it!

Back to the challenge!  The challenge this week is to felt or flocking on your card.  To me, felt and stitching go hand in hand.  I used my Labels 9 Spellbinders die to cut the felt and then used my sewing machine to adhere the sentiment.
Make sure you check out all of the inspiration at Our Creative Corner.  I hope all are having a blessed day and weekend with your family and friends. We are hosting my Mom's side of the family at our house and we've been cleaning for days.  I'm really looking forward to it, but I'll be glad when we can finally relax and stop worrying about all the things that need to get done.

Have a great day!

Paper Maniac Thursday - Echo Park

Thursday, November 18, 2010

Hello!  This week the Paper Maniac DT and I are focusing on Echo Park.  Echo Park offers collections of 12 x 12 patterned papers.  I haven't seen a collection that I haven't adored.  Today I chose to use the Life is Good collection. The little house is cut out from a sheet of image panels.  The swirl is a sticker that comes with the collection as well.  I only used part of the sticker and cut it off at the edges with scissors.

For my sentiment, I cut a slit in the house panel and punched a hole at the top and bottom.  Then I slid a thin piece of patterned paper through the slit and adhered that paper to the back of the house panel.  This card is also for this week's Sketch Challenge at SCS.

Have a great day!

OCC Challenge - 3+ Embellishements

Saturday, October 16, 2010

Hello!  Happy Saturday.  We have a pretty low-key weekend planned and I can't wait to get it started.  So, Saturday means a new challenge from Our Creative Corner.  This week is a fun challenge where you can make any card you want, it just needs to have three or more embellishments.  This is quite a departure from the one-layer CAS card I made yesterday.
The embellies I chose were the flower punches (2 kinds), brads (2 kinds), so I have 4 total.  I hope you have time to play along.  As always, you'll want to check out the creations from the design team at Our Creative Corner.

Have a great day!

A "Congratulations" Card...

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

Hey there!  I made a bright and cheery card for today's sketch challenge at SCS.  I stamped the kraft card base with text, slightly darker than the card.  The center panel with flowers was cut from an entire sheet of rectangular focal point elements.  I punched my own flowers out a few scraps to add a dimensional effect to the card.   All of the papers come from the Echo Park collection Life is Good.
I adore that pink vertical strip.  It came from a sheet of border elements.  I wish there was a whole sheet of that pattern.

I hope you are having a great day!

A "Thank You" Card...

Monday, October 4, 2010

Hello there!  It is so cold and dreary here, I thought I would make a brightly colored card to cheer me up a bit.  The kids are on Fall Break this week and we have so much fun stuff planned along with some crafty projects (if I can find the right materials).

This card uses the Mojo Monday sketch.    I pretty much stuck to the sketch, but still taking a few liberties.  Those colorful papers come from the Echo Park collection Life is Good.  I love how all the papers coordinate so it really takes the thinking part out of it, which is great on a Monday morning.
I've been using floss a lot lately instead of ribbon.  I find it a lot less bulky when making cards you are going to mail.  Also the bow wouldn't get flattened either.

Hope you are having a good Monday!!!
{Thank You}

Paper Maniac Wednesday - Falling 4 You

Thursday, September 30, 2010

Hello and welcome to Paper Maniac Thursday here on my blog.  The theme this week is "Falling For You."  My card uses a dark brown card base, but everything else comes from the Echo Park collection Life is Good.  I didn't have a sentiment that went exactly with the theme, so I made one up using some letter stickers from the kit.    I actually stuck the stickers to a piece of scrap paper and then adhered them underneath the main sentiment panel.  The sentiment panel looks like I just cut it out, but the word happy is actually a sticker as well.  I placed it right over those brown swirls and it looks like it was made that way.

Thanks so much for visiting, have a great day!

A "There's No Place Like Home" Card...

Tuesday, September 21, 2010

I totally feel like Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz with this card.  The funny thing is that the sentiment stamp actually says "There's no place like home for the holidays", but I thought the just "there's no place like home" would go perfectly with these houses from the Life is Good collection from Echo Park.  All of the papers on my card come from that collection as well as the striped sticker that runs beneath each row of houses.
The layout of this card comes from this week's CPS sketch.  I love this one!!!  I'm still out of kraft card stock.  I though I would be able to buy a pack at Archiver's on my trek over the weekend.  No such luck.  So, once again I used a creamy caramel card base with brown sponged edges to give the same look as kraft.

Have a great day!

A "Home Sweet Home" Card...

Tuesday, August 31, 2010

Hello!  I have a quick and easy card to share with you today.  I didn't use any foam dimensionals on this card, so even thought it has layers, I'm gonna consider it a one layer card.  This would be perfect for mailing since there's no bulk.

The papers I used today all come from the Echo Park "Life is Good" collection. The strip of houses comes from a sheet full of borders.  The blue sentiment panel was cut from a narrow strip of paper that had a very subtle pattern on it.  I curved the edges of the sentiment panel by sliding the ends through one side of a circle punch.  I love that little trick.

Thanks for stopping by!  See you tomorrow for the Clear & Simple Stamps release day!!!

Hope your day is fabulous...

Friday, August 27, 2010

Hey there!  I am really running behind today.  I was hoping to get this card posted much earlier, but hey, that's life!  Anyway, the card I made today uses this week's CPS sketch.   I kept the sketch the same but made my card a square instead of a standard A2 size.   I have to tell you that I've had those decorative brads for years.    I've tried to use them many times, but they just didn't look right on any of my cards, until now that is!!!
I know I've said this before, but those rhinestones are light pink.  I can never get them to photograph right.  It's so much prettier in person.

I hope you all have a great weekend!  I can't wait to get ours started.  We're having a family movie night tonight and then we are going to a winery tomorrow.  I can't wait!!!

Thoughts of you...

Wednesday, August 25, 2010

Hi friends!!!  In my happy mail from last week I received some Echo Park goodness.  This is my first experience with Echo Park so I wasn't sure what to expect when it came.  Sometimes you buy something and have all these plans and then when you actually go to use it, it just falls short of your expectations.  KWIM?  Well, I'm happy to report that the Echo Park "Life is Good" Collection Kit definitely surpassed my expectations.  It comes with 12 double sided sheets of 12" x 12" patterned papers along with 2 sheets of stickers (1 alpha and 1 images).  Even though the sheets are 12" x 12" the patterns are a good proportion for card making.  They also include a lot of images that can easily be cut out and applied to cards.  Love it, love it!!!

My card uses today's sketch challenge from SCS.  It's such a simple layout and I love simple.  The flower is a sticker from the Echo Park "Life is Good" Collection Kit.  I simply applied it to a piece of scrap card stock, cut it out and then applied it to my card using foam dimensionals.  That way it won't stick to anything it shouldn't.
The little flowers that are peeking out from behind the striped panel are from the PTI set, Mailbox Greetings.  The sentiment is also from this set.  I love to curve my sentiment panel like it's a banner in the wind.  Such a cute finishing touch.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Have a great day!!!
