Another {Valentine's Day} Card...

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

Hi!  Yep, another Valentine's Day card.  I'm running so low on red card stock that I'm starting to get nervous!  I only have scraps left.  I need to reorder, stat!

I started working on this card Sunday, I had the perimeter of the card done and then it just sat for a couple days, not knowing where to go.  I finally decided on a Valentine's theme.  The scroll and sentiments come from Love Cupid, which has been seeing a lot of action lately.  And the little randomly stamped heart is from Taglines: Critters, but any little heart will do.
Designer Lines is definitely one of my favorite  background building stamp sets.  Its so versatile and the images are so bold and graphic, my favorite.

Have a great day!

CSS Group Project-- Vday Tags

Tuesday, January 15, 2013

Hey friends!!!  I have such a fun project to share with you today.  The Clear & Simple Stamps Design Team and I are sharing our Valentine's Day tag creating.  I have to say, this was so much fun!  I ended up making 5 tags to put on some treat bags for Valentine's Day.

I started by getting out my Tags 1 dies.  I cut 5 large tags out from A Blanc Check card stock, and 5 small tags from Dare to Be a Diva Red card stock.  I stamped the tag outline from Trendy Tags in black.  Next, I put together the letter to spell "bee mine" from Alpha Clear.  "Bee" is stamped in black and filled in with a red sharpie marker, "Mine" was stamped using red ink and left as an outline.
The whimsical swirls come from Taglines: Critters, and so does the bee.  I stamped the bee image on the red tag first and then stamped on a piece of white card stock.  I colored the bee with a yellow copic marker (Y35). When I cut out the bee, I didn't cut out the antenna, and then glued it in place on the tag, over top of the stamped image, that way it uses the antenna from the first image.   I took the tiny heart from Taglines: Critters and stamped it in red right over top of the dot in the "i" in "mine".

I stacked the two tags and tied them to the bag of treats using red, shiny curling ribbon.

You won't want to miss the wide variety of tags the Design Team has created:

Have a great day!

Group Project: Nature of Winter

Tuesday, January 8, 2013

Hey there!  I have a fun winter project to share with you today.  It's our first Clear & Simple Stamps group project of the year.  The first challenge was to make a card/project with the theme of Nature in Winter.

I put together a wintery card using a twig from my yard, some liquid appliqué for the snowflakes and woodgrain stamp for the "tree".

I colored the my little owl guy with copics, using a darker color to outline the scallops and ears.  I used an orange sharpie for the owl feet.

I stamped the letters for "wishes" using Alpha Clear and colored them in with a light blue copic marker, the same color as the owl's eyes.

I used a snowflake stamp from Taglines and liquid appliqué for the snowflakes, although you can't see the stamp.  I used it as a guide for the liquid appliqué.  If you've never used liquid appliqué, it goes on like puffy paint and then it puffs up when you heat it up with your heat gun.
I used Tombow Multi Glue to adhere the twig and it is staying on really well, much better than the glue dots I tried at first.  The glue dries completely clear.

Check out the other group projects that are happening today with a Nature of Winter theme:

Have a great day!

{Happy 10th Anniversary} Sweetie

Friday, July 6, 2012

Hello!  Happy 10 year anniversary to me and my husband!!!  Technically we celebrated it when we were in Toronto, but we couldn't let the official day pass without acknowledging it somehow.  So, we are going to the jewelry store (it's been 10 years, I think it's time I get a wedding band to go with my engagement ring), and then dinner and a movie.  I can't wait!

So, here's the card I made for my hubby.  It's a one layer card and there is a wood-grain panel in the center that is really hard to see, but it's there.  I used stamps from 4 sets on this card!
I just love those swirly stamps from the Taglines: Critters set, they are so easy to manipulate.  I tried to keep the girly-ness to a minimum, but I did have to throw in that cupid.
Here's a close-up of the wood-grain I was telling you about.  It's slightly darker than the card base.

I'll be back bright and early tomorrow (and the day after) for some Clear & Simple Stamps releases.  You won't want to miss it.

Have a great day!

"It's A Party!" CSS Release Review

Sunday, February 5, 2012

Hello!  Since Clear & Simple Stamps releases are so big that they're going bi-monthly, the DT and I are taking this opportunity to work with a few sets you may have overlooked.  We each created an invitation and a party favor.
For my card I created an invitation style, one layer wonder.  I took a standard A2 size piece of Trendsetter Blue card stock, I masked an off-center square and stamped the wood grain image from the new Background Basics I set in Dish All the Dirt Brown.  I removed the mask, stamped the sentiment from Critters Party Elements and colored the word "party" in using a pink copic marker.  I stamped the kitty image on I'm a Princess Pink card stock, cut it out and adhered it to the card.  I filled in that cute little heart nose using that same topic marker used on the letters.  I decided to do some faux stitching around the masked square for a fun finishing touch.
Flipping the card over you can see that it's divided in two the way of a regular postcard.  I love the sentiment "for one cool kitty" followed by my daughter's name.  The kitty on the back of the card is an even smaller version of the one on the front, but uses the same paper-pieced treatment.  I used Alpha Duo to create Halle's name, colored in with the same pink topic marker like the word "party" on the front.  I stamped place, date, time, etc. using Critters Party Elements.
Now for the most fun, the party favor!  I used the Party Favor #2 die with the fancy lid.  Once I die cut the lid, used a Shapes: Hearts Die and die cut a heart in the center of the lid.  I used a small square of clear transparency to create a window.  I stamped the "window" using the stamp set that comes with the Shapes: Hearts Dies.
You can see here where the box base was stamped with a woodgrain stamp, just like the invitation.  Once the box was put together, I filled it with chocolates and wrapped it up with some brown embroidery floss.  The little circle tag uses that same mini kitty from the flip side of the postcard.

I hope you've enjoyed today's little card/favor combo.  For even more ideas making invitations and favors, please check out the rest of the design team:

Clear & Simple Stamps: Release Day!!!

Wednesday, January 4, 2012

Hello!  I hope you are as excited as I am!  Today is the BIG day that Clear & Simple Stamps is releasing all kinds of goodies.  They have some amazing stamps sets, coordinating dies to go with the stamps, some dies for party favors, and last but certainly not least-- BaKer'S TwiNe!!!

There are so many new stamp sets that it would take up an entire page of my blog to show them all, so I'm just going to share the ones I used in today's project.  Be sure to check out the entire release at the Clear & Simple Stamps Blog.

For today's project I used a new collection called Little Critters.  This collection includes stamps and dies (purchased separately). Aren't they cute?

For my large bee I used the Bat/Bee Little Critter Die in conjunction with the Owl/Kitty Die, no stamping necessary.  I used Say Yellow to All Your Fans for the bee's body and Perfect Little Black Dress for the stripes.  I used vellum for the wings.  I love this whimsical little guy.
I used the new Party Favor #1 Die to turn this little bee into a party favor.  I simply ran the die and Kraft Like a Rockstar card stock through my cuttlebug, folded it up and used some sticky tape to adhere it to the backside of the bee.

For the tag I used the previously released Trendy Tags stamp set along with it's coordinating Tag Die.  This month a Taglines: Critters stamp set is being released to coordinate.  Such a cute addition to the already popular taglines set.  I used some acrylic accents for the wings.  Did you spot the Baker's Twine?  The black and white twine was perfect for this project.
Be sure to check out the rest of the design team creations as well as all the other products being released.

Thanks for sharing in our excitement!  I'm really looking forward to sharing the rest of my projects with you the rest of this month and throughout February!

Have a great day!
