"It's the most wonderful time of the year"

Thursday, November 5, 2009

Hello! Since Halloween, I've been making holiday cards like crazy. This card uses a free digital image from Verve Stamps. They only offered it for a short time, so I'm lucky I got it. I love it! Especially the font used in the sentiment. I printed the sentiment on white paper and the mittens on Spring Rain. The image of the mittens had a string linking them together that I decided was too cumbersome to try and use. Check out those silver pearls!!! They are my newest obsession. I think they look so classy!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Holiday Wishes...

Thursday, September 24, 2009

Hello! I tried out some new paper today, and I think my card turned out really well. I have never seen glossy colored paper before Patti from Paper Maniac sent me some. You can see in the picture below the glossiness. I used my new cuttlebug folder to dry emboss the glossy paper. Since the glossy paper has a white center, I was able to take a sanding block and sand off the raised area leaving white.
This paper is gorgeous! I can't wait to try out the other colors! Have a great day everyone!

A Mojo Monday Card

Monday, June 8, 2009

Wow! I totally did not realize how long it's been since I posted something. I guess I was just enjoying my family a little too much. Nah, I don't think there is a too much when it comes to family.

My card for today uses this week's Mojo Monday Sketch. Making this card really did bring back my mojo. In case you can't read the sentiment, it says "you brighten my day". I thought that was the perfect sentiment for such a bright and cheery card.
Blog Update: I have added two new features to my blog. The first is a Dana's Dabbling Studio Facebook page where you can become a fan of my blog. The second is a "share" feature where you can share my blog posts on Digg, Facebook, Twitter, Stumble Upon, etc. You can find this feature at the bottom of each blogpost. I'm trying to improve my blog a little at a time. Thanks for hanging in there while I try out some new things.

{you brighten my day}

Wishing You Joy Tag

Friday, May 29, 2009

TGIF!!!  When I woke up this morning, I had no idea what I wanted to create today.  I was browsing challenges and saw the limited supply challenge on SCS.  The challenge was to make a card using just half a sheet of card stock and lots of patterned paper.  I didn't make a card, but made this cute tag instead.  I did follow the rules though.  The dimensions of the tag are 2.5" x 3.5".  This would look so cute tied on a gift bag.  The triangles for the tree were made using a square punch and then folding the square in half.  Punches make life to much easier!

I hope you all have a fantastically fun weekend!

My First Christmas Card of the Year

Thursday, May 28, 2009

Yep, you read that right.  I'm starting to work on Christmas cards.  Normally I send out around 65 cards and they are usually all the same card.  I thought I would change it up this year and send out a variety of cards.
I saw this wonderful card on Wendy Wexler's blog last week and fell in love.  I love finding new ways to use stamps.  I thought her card looked like a wreath, so I thought I would make my wreath a holiday one.  It was super easy.
This card was really hard to photograph since it's a window card.  I think this is the first window card I've made.   Before I forget, this card also uses a button which was the requirement for the ways to use it challenge today at SCS.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Birthday Wishes

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

Hello!  This will be a quick post since I wasted so much time trying to figure out how to upload my pictures.  These cards are 4 x4 ones using mostly Papertrey items.  The cardstock is Raspberry Fizz and the pattern paper is from a 6 x 6 pack called Everyday Blessings.  I just love the button treatment.  I picked up a pack of glue dots the other day and love using them to adhere buttons.

Have a great day!

This card uses the layout from Mojo Monday #81 and the colors come from Dawn McVey's Raspberry Suite Challenge #3. I really love these color together. And the stamp is a new one from Dog Gone Stamps and it's from the Grass Set. I love the way it looks as a background stamp.

Take care guys! See ya tomorrow!

A Mojo Card & A Sewing Project

Monday, March 30, 2009

Hello!  Here is my card for both Mojo Monday and Dawn McVey's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge.  Such a cute color combo.  I know it is hard to read the sentiment, it says "I made a wish and you came true".  Just one of the many sentiments in the Wonderful Wishes stamp set from Verve Stamps.

I mentioned Friday that I had a little sewing project going on.  Well, I wanted to make a pouch to hold my Kindle.  It game with a faux leather/suede cover, but my kindle wouldn't stay put inside.  Anyway, I purchased this little sewing machine from Walmart, bought a yard of fabric and went to town.  Even though the sewing machine left a lot to be desired, I did manage to complete the pouch before returning it to Walmart the next day.  I would definitely not recommend this machine.  About every four or five inches the thread would break and I would have to re-thread the machine.  Very frustrating.
The button is just for looks.  It is a 'mother of pearl' type button that is hard to see in the picture.
I also made my daughter a little matching change purse.  Hope you all are having a good start to your week!

Mojo Monday & a Raspberry Suite Challenge

Monday, March 23, 2009

Hello!  Well, Spring Break is officially over and it's time to get back into my stampin' and bloggin' routine.  Today's card was made using a combination of two challenges.  First, the layout comes from this sketch from the Mojo Monday Blog.  Next, the colors came from a color challenge from my favorite blogger, Dawn McVey.

Notice those great stamps I used?  They are Verve Stamps!  The flower comes from a set called "Thoughtful Florals".  The center of the flowers have a dot of Crystal Effects in the center for a little added interest.  The sentiment comes from a set called "Wonderful Wishes".  Loving these stamps so far.  I also received my Papertrey Ink order over the weekend.  I ordered a pack of assorted paper and used three of those colors in this card.  I cannot begin to tell you how much I love this paper.  Such high quality and brilliant colors.

I mentioned on Friday that my friend Sherry was getting married that night.  Well, everything was beautiful and we had a wonderful evening.  This is a picture of me with my best girls.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
