A {One-of-a-Kind Friend} Card...

Friday, February 4, 2011

Hey friends!  I received so many kind comments on the text background and layout of this card, I thought I would try it again.  The Silhouette Studio Store has a free image every week and last week the free image was the dress form I used on today's card.  It cuts in two pieces, the entire dress form and then shirt/dress part.

To make the masked text background I created an image using the Silhouette Studio.  I simply made a rectangle that was 5.5" x 4.25" and then inside that rectangle I cut another rectangle that was 3.5" x 2.25".  Once this was all cut out, I removed the middle rectangle, placed the paper (looking like a frame) over the card front and then stamped the text.  Since the text turned out so faint I used a white gel pen to outline the box, tracing along the lines of the mask.  Easy peasy!

I have a fun weekend planned.  Tonight is a girls dinner at my friend's house.  She has a meal planned that celebrates the Chinese New Year.  That should be fun and interesting.  It's impossible not to have fun when I'm with those girls.  Tomorrow night is a date night with my hubby.  Hopefully dinner and a movie and then we'll end the night watching our cousins make fools of themselves doing karaoke.  And then of course Sunday is the SuperBowl.  We'll be cheering on the Packer's at a party at another friend's house.

Hope you all have a fun weekend ahead of you!

An {I'm So Grateful For You} Card...

Friday, October 29, 2010

Hello!  Today I'm sharing a card I made the other night while my hubby was watching the World Series.  I rarely craft at night so I didn't know how it would go, but I'm in love with the card I made.  My son and daughter both love to make cards, but never quite clean everything up.  I'm sure you know what I mean.  Anyway, I guess they were using my flower punch and when I went to clean up the scraps, I thought about making a card using the negative image from the punch.

This card was super quick but interesting and graphic.  I started with a base of Pure Poppy and adhered a thick strip of patterned paper to that.  Then I trimmed a piece of Summer Sunrise the same height as the card but a little shorter on the edges so it would leave a strip of red on each side.  I punched out three flowers on piece of printer paper and placed them on the Summer Sunrise card stock arranged them where I wanted.  Then I punched the flowers out, although my punch was not very cooperative.  It punches great, put sliding the punch off the paper is a nightmare.  Okay, moving on, I adhered the punched card stock to the card base using a lot of foam dimensionals, especially around the flowers.
The flower centers are small circles of patterned paper with a clear epoxy sticker over it.  These are applied the flower centers with foam dimensionals as well.  I forgot to mention that the flowers and the edges of the Summer Sunrise card stock are sponged with blue ink.  Stamp the sentiment and voilĂ !

I'm so glad it's Friday, but I have a busy day.  Two Halloween parties and a Halloween dance.  I hope you all have a great weekend!!!

Paper Maniac Thursday - Teacher Cards!

Thursday, June 3, 2010

Hi there!  Welcome to another Paper Maniac Thursday here on my blog!  This week the theme is Teacher Cards.  I made this card earlier in the week for my daughter to give to her teacher on the last day of school (along with some sweets!).  She filled out the inside thanking her teacher for being so awesome.

My card is a 3.5" square with a kraft base.  The patterned paper is from Early Bird by Cosmo Cricket and is sponges around the edges with brown ink.  The sentiment panel is cream and the sentiment comes from Thankful Flourishes by Our Craft Lounge and is stamped in red.  That adorable little felt apple comes from a whole pack of Snack Attack Felties by Sassafras.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!!!

{So very thankful for you}
