A {Happy Birthday} Card...

Wednesday, May 9, 2012

Good morning!  I think I designed and executed this card half asleep.  I've not slept well the last three nights and our new bed and mattress will be delivered here shortly.  Hopefully there will be a nice nap in my future on a foam mattress that feels like a cloud.
For my card I used a triangle banner image from the new CSS set "Triangle Trinkets".  I penciled a light line where I wanted the banner tops to line up, then I stamped the banner images and then paper pieced the banners.  Then I took a black fine tip marker and drew a short line connecting the banners, they look like they are linked.
Hope all that made sense since I'm still half asleep (and I've had two cups of coffee).  Thanks for bearing with me.

I'm submitting this PTI's challenge this week to mix up many patterns of scrap paper.

Have a great day!

A Rainbow {I Love You} Card...

Friday, July 15, 2011

As you can see I'm still on my rainbow kick.  This card came together pretty quickly.  I stamped the lines of hearts first .  The circle and hearts were punches, so that was really quick.

When I was finished with this card I noticed I forgot the sentiment.  Eek!  Since the whole layer was already popped up on foam, I knew it was going to be tricky to stamp the sentiment.  My solution was to stick a ruler under the white card stock (luckily there was not any foam there) and then I was able to stamp the sentiment with something solid underneath.

Have a great weekend!

A {Happy Birthday} Card...

Thursday, February 10, 2011

Hello!  Once again I have another card using two challenges.  The first challenge was another one from Papertrey Ink wanting you to use buttons in a new way on your card.  Instead of using my buttons as an accent, I used them as my focal point.  The next one was the Ways to Use It challenge at SCS that were challenging you to make a birthday card, easy peasy.

The colors for this card came about when I saw the cover of the March 2011 issue of ALL YOU.  I love the white, green and yellow combo.   I could have thrown in some magenta but it might have taken away of the CAS-ness of this card.

I used a really neglected stamp set for this card, Around & About Sentiments.   It was one of those must-have sets that I don't really use as much as I should.  I'm gonna keep this one at the top of my pile in hopes I'll use it more.
Here's another view so you can see some of the dimension.  The green panel is distressed and popped up on dimensionals.  The white squares are popped up as well.

Hope you all are having a great day!

OCC Challenge - Color Challenge w/ a Twist

Saturday, January 22, 2011

Hey guys!  We have a fun and unique challenge from Our Creative Corner for you today.  I've seen color charts before, but I've not made a card based on complimentary colors.  You can see the color chart to the left.  The challenge is to use three colors in order from the chart.

For my card, I used three colors in the lower right quadrant.  I chose a medium blue, aqua blue, and green.  You can also use black and white. I love how the colors pop off the white card stock.

I actually used three stamps from three different stamp sets. Each layer is popped up on foam dimensionals.

Be sure to check out the other samples at Our Creative Corner.  You'll find lots of inspiration from all over the color chart.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

OCC Challenge - Cool Colors

Saturday, June 26, 2010

Hi there!  I'm here with another challenge from Our Creative Corner.  This week the challenge is to make a card using the cool colors, blue and green.  I've been seeing a ton of cards lately that have a "frame" created with a marker and ruler.  I've done this before, but I always forget about that technique.  It adds a sort of polished look to the card.  I didn't plan for the card to be masculine, it just turned out that way.  That's okay because I can always use masculine cards.

I hope you have time to play along with us this week.  I know our schedule is bursting at the seams, but it's always nice to squeeze in a little "me-time" in the studio.  Head on over to Our Creative Corner and check out the amazing cards from the rest of the Design Team.

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

{Congrats}
