Clear & Simple Stamps: Group Project

Tuesday, February 14, 2012

Hello!  It's group project day with Clear & Simple Stamps, but it's also Valentine's Day.  I really wish I would have thought my project through and made a Valentine Card, but I just didn't have that in mind when I made this a month ago.  However, when I heard what the challenge was, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.

If you can't guess, the challenge was to make a card using only sentiment stamps.  Almost all of the January release sets have large outline sentiments so I just picked one and went with it.  The "You're Invited" comes from Party Elements: Critters.

I simply stamped the sentiment where I wanted it on the card (the one that I colored in) and then I just filled in to the left, right, above and below.  I didn't make a grid or anything.  It was easy to just eyeball it!
When I was finished stamping I colored in the one sentiment using a trio of blue copic markers.  I outlined just that sentiment using a W1 copic marker. The outlining makes the sentiment really pop off the page.

I hope you'll check out the rest of the Design Team, I know I will!

Have a great day & enjoy your Valentine's Day!

Clear & Simple Stamps: Group Project

Monday, January 9, 2012

Hello! It's group project time and we are kicking off the year with a really fun one.  Clear & Simple Stamps has just released a bunch of dies and they include 3 new party favor dies. We were asked to create a project showing one of those bags.  So, this project is IN THE BAG!
I truly enjoyed putting together this party favor.  Once I had the basic critter finished, I had so much fun adding embellishments.

I used the Owl/Kitty Die set for the basic shape of the cat (body, tail, eyes, nose) and then I stole the ears from the Bat/Bee Die set.  I drew the whiskers on free-hand with a white gel pen.  The long tag uses two of the small tags that are in the Tags Die set.  If you look close you can see where the two tags overlap.  I colored the sentiment using copies (I think I'm getting better!).  That bow is some of the new Pink Baker's Twine that CSS is now carrying (and they sell it in increments of 5 yards!).
I attached the kitty to the Party Favors #3 box.  So easy to fold and put together using sticky tape.  It's a good size box too, lots of room for treats!

The handle is just a narrow strip of card stock that is adhered to the inside of the box with sticky tape.

Be sure to check out all of our projects today.  I can't wait to see what everyone else came up with.

Have a great day!

A {Welcome Baby} Card...

Tuesday, November 29, 2011

Hello!  I have just one more release card to share with you using Trendy Tags and Taglines from Clear & Simple Stamps.  This card really shows the versatility of these sets. I cut two small tags and stamped them with a tag outline stamp from Trendy Tags.  On one of the tags I stamped "baby" and on the other I stamped the bunny (which I then paper pieced).

One of my favorite features of this card is the bunny tail.  I used Liquid Applique to make it poofy.  If you've never used Liquid Applique, it's really fun.  You dab a little where you need it and hit with a heat gun and BAM! instant dimension.
I filled in the bunny ears with a couple copic markers to make him look a little more finished.

Have a great day!

A {Happy Birthday, Dad} Card...

Sunday, November 20, 2011

I used to never get crafty on the weekends (unless we have a girls craft night) but I've been finding myself needing last minute cards for the past three weekends.  Yesterday we celebrated my father-in-laws birthday and I only had girly looking cards in my stash.  That called for a special card to be made.  I quickly browsed my pinterest boards for a quick and easy card before I headed down to my studio.  I based my card off of this really cool card by Laura Bassen
This card would have been really fast and easy to make, except I had a caffeine buzz going and it was really hard to line up the alphabet stamps that spell "DAD" with an unsteady hand.  But I can't complain because I didn't have to make the coffee.

Have a great day!

A Trendy {Let's Celebrate} Card...

Tuesday, November 15, 2011

Hello!  Today I'm sharing one of my favorite cards I created for this month's Clear & Simple Stamps release.  I don't know about you, but I love hounds-tooth.  When I saw this set for the first time, I was so excited by the little hounds-tooth addition that was in the Trendy Tags set.

If I had to pick a card that showed my style perfectly, I think this card would be up there.  It's clean and simple but graphic.  I also love black and white with a pop of color.
The champagne glasses were colored and outlined with copic markers.  So fun!

I also have a card featured on the Clear & Simple Stamps App for the iPhone (and similar devices) today.  It's a cute Thanksgiving card.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  Have a great day!

Creating Keepsakes Convention: Cincinnati

Monday, October 17, 2011

Hello!  On Friday I was fortunate enough to meet up with the gals behind Clear & Simple Stamps at the Cincinnati Creating Keepsakes Convention.  Lucky for me I only live about 25 minutes away from Cincinnati.  Nicki & Reenee were teaching copic classes at the convention and I tagged along, picking up a few new tricks.
Me, Nicki & Reenee
This is a bird's eye view of the showroom floor.
In the classroom, scrappers eager to learn about copic markers.
Nicki teaching.
Some GORGEOUS examples of cards using copic markers.
One of the cards made during the class.

I had a blast hanging out with Nicki & Reenee.  I loved helping out during the classes.  It's really exciting to see someone figuring it all out for the first time and be so proud of themselves when they get the hang of it.

If you are interested in learning about using copic markers, Nicki has an AMAZING tutorial here. Don't forget there are additional resources along the right sidebar.   Now, of course, I'm itching to get some more copics!

Have a great day!

A {Let's Chat} Card...

Monday, August 22, 2011

Hey guys!  I have happy card to share with you today featuring one of my favorite colors, Glamazon Green.  Ahh, I just love it.  My card today uses the couch stamp from House Notes II.  I stamped it on the white oval first and then again on Glamazon Green, cutting it out, embossing it and then paper piecing it on the white oval.  I added a little white square button to act as a pillow.  I love that little touch.
If you look closely you can see that I "grounded" the couch by adding a floor.  I used a W3 copic marker and then took a 0 Colorless Blender Copic to make the diagonal lines.   Here's another view:
Thanks so much for stopping by and checking out today's card.  I hope you are all having a great start to your week.  So far so good here.  See you all tomorrow!

Clear & Simple Stamps: Group Project

Tuesday, July 12, 2011

Welcome to another group challenge from Clear & Simple Stamps!  In the spirit of this month's newest stamp set Beauty Secrets II, our group challenge was to do a card make-over.  In this post you'll see how the stamped images look before and after they are "dressed up".

Here's the before and after of my images.
You can see that I stamped the images using Perfect Little Dress ink on A Blanc Check card stock.  Pretty boring, huh?
I then stamped the same images again, but this time on patterned paper.
I did a little coloring with a fine-tip black sharpie just to add a little detail.
I used a copic marker to outline the images so that they would pop off the page a bit.
The I adhered the patterned paper images to the images on the white card stock.  I drew in some wavy lines coming out of the hair dryer, just thought that would fun.
I finished the card off with a sentiment on Kraft Like a Rockstar card stock and some brads along the side.

I hope you enjoyed today's group project.  You won't want to miss the other delightful creations from the design team.  Check out the Clear & Simple Stamps Blog so you don't miss a project.

A {You Float My Boat} Card...

Friday, July 8, 2011

Hi & Happy Friday!!!  We have a busy night and weekend ahead of us, but it's all fun stuff and I can't wait to get started.  I made this card for the Embellish Magazine Challenge which was to use the colors in my card as well as to use a nautical theme.

I feel like this card is a bit technique-y.  I don't have any tag dies, so I made my own by using a Labels 9 Spellbinder's die and sliding the kraft card stock just under a portion of the die.  I stamped the chevron stripes first on the light blue card stock and then on the kraft, then lined them up before the tag was adhered.  I stamped the boat on white card stock, colored it with copics.  I used an x-acto knife to cut a small portion of the chevron stripes on the tag so I could slide the boat under the "waves".  The boat also was also outlined using a W3 copic marker so it would pop off the page a bit more.
I love the baker's twine on the tag.  I wrapped the twine through the hole about four times, tied a bow and then cut the loops.

Hope you have a fun weekend!  I know we will!!!

A {Tweet Little One} Card...

Wednesday, June 15, 2011

Hello!  It's a rainy day here but I had a perfect morning.  My husband is taking a mini vacation and we both slept in, drank our coffee and read the news on our ipads.  The kids have been lazy today, recovering from the 12 hours we spent at Kings Island yesterday.  I was able to steal some uninterrupted time in my studio.  Such a laid back day.

I was in the mood to make a clean and simple card.  I decided to create a scene using Tweet Notes.  This set is perfect for baby cards.  I really like how the branches are crossed and provide a perfect place for a nest.
I used blue copic markers for the birds.  The two larger birds were stamped on white card stock and cut out with scissors then glued on top of the branches.  I stamped the nest first and then the cracked egg. I masked the egg and then stamped the baby bird so it's peeking out of the egg.  Since I don't have green copics (yet!) I used some green ink and a colorless blender copic marker.  I'm sure if that's an actual technique or not and as I was doing it I was thinking "I hope I'm doing this right and not ruining my marker".  I think the green looks good on my card.  I rubbed the blender pen on some scrap paper to remove the green.

Thanks so much for joining me here today!  I'm wishing you a relaxing day!!!

A {Happy Day} Card...

Friday, March 18, 2011

Hello, hello, hello!!!  I'm sharing a card with you that's been days in the making.  This is the very first card I'm sharing using copic markers.  I was finally able to color an image that actually turned out pretty good, and it was so much fun!

Notice anything different about my photo?  I've been noticing lately that my cards are looking dark and out of focus, even the one I took outside in the last post.  Well, I think I've played with the settings a little too much. It was difficult to tell what the setting originally were.  So, I reset my camera back to the factory settings.  Viola, look at today's photos!!!  I only had to crop them.

Anyway, I'm having a great day.  I've had most of the day to myself, I went for a short/hard run this morning.  I had an eye doctor appointment, which wasn't fun but I'm excited about picking out some new glasses that I'll wear as needed.  I got to make a super cute card while watching "The Last Song" on my ipad.  Speaking of ipad, I am officially hooked.  I have the older edition, but I still love it.  The weather here has been gorgeous, high 60's.  I sat out on our deck this morning with a cup of coffee and Scrabble on my ipad.  Perfection.

We are hanging out with friends tomorrow and Scott and I are running in the Heart Mini Marathon 5K on Sunday.  Scott says my running is more like jogging!  Oh well, I get where I need to go.

Enough about me, I hope you all are having a great day and will have a wonderful weekend.

Have a great day!
