Our Creative Corner - Inspiration Challenge

Saturday, January 8, 2011

Hello!  I'm here bright and early with an inspiration challenge from Our Creative Corner.  I said I'd have something to share using stamping today, and I didn't disappoint.  I used a whopping three stamps sets on my card!

The picture we are drawing inspiration from is on the left.  I took inspiration from the color scheme, the cranberries, and the bird.  I used some gray, warm red, kraft, and black.  I thought that my card was sort of soothing, so I decided to make it a sympathy card.

I feel a little weird about making my bird black.  It looks like a crow and I have a feeling that that is somehow bad luck.  Hmm.  Not sure.

I cut the wreath out free hand.  It was originally a circle and when I went to stamp the wreath, it was off-center.  Bummer, but I think it turned out okay in the end.

Make sure you check out the talented group of ladies at Our Creative Corner.  They have some great samples to show you using the inspiration piece.  It's so interesting to how different each card is, even though we used the same inspiration.

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

Paper Maniac Thursday - Congratulations!!!

Thursday, December 9, 2010

Hey there!  It's Paper Maniac Thursday and I have a fun and bright card to share with you.  I had so much fun making this card, seeing how it all came together.  I used some die cuts from the Hippy Girl paper pad by Kaiser Craft and then I die cut the oval from one of the patterned paper sheets.  I had fun getting to know my sewing machine and creating the ruffle-y ribbon.
The "congratulations" sentiment is from a set called Enjoy by American Crafts.  I curved the stamp on my acrylic block before I stamped it.  The butterfly is a stamp from the same set.

Thanks so much for stopping by for a visit.  Have a great day!

Paper Maniac Thursday - Pick Three

Thursday, December 2, 2010

Hello, hello!  It's Paper Maniac Thursday and this week we are using three of our favorite products from Paper Maniac on our cards.  Well, I'm sure you're not surprised by my choices since I use them all the time.  First up is this awesome paper pad called Hippy Girl by Kaiser Craft.  Every paper element is from this collection except the card base.  I created a window for my sentiment by cutting a hole in the pre-made die cut label from the pack.   Even the strip of glitter came with pack too.  My second item is the Labels 9 Nestabilities Die from Spellbinders.  It is my all time favorite die and I use it on everything.  Lastly is Kaiser Craft rhinestones.  I think I have them in every color available.  Love, love, love them!
Here you can see the dimension of my card and that little circle window I created for the sentiment.  Thanks so much for visiting today.  I hope you have a wonderful day!!!

Paper Maniac Thursday - Anything But a Card

Thursday, November 4, 2010

Hello!  Today is Paper Maniac Thursday!!!  This week on the Paper Maniac Blog the theme is ABC, which stands for Anything But a Card.  I think I copped out a bit since I technically did make a card, but they are "place-cards"!

I made four place cards, one for each member of my family.  The kids have already had fun using these at dinner.  They are going to be making their own versions for Thanksgiving this year, for many more people.

My place cards are made from a piece of 5.5" x 3.5" kraft card stock folded in half.  I attached some scraps of patterned paper from Apple Cider by Imaginisce.  I used a computer and printer for the names.  The font I used is called "Sketchy Times".  Under the names I stamped, for lack of a better word, a separator.  I positioned my Labels 9 Spellbinders Die exactly where I wanted it and ran it through my Cuttlebug. I sponged the edges with brown ink and then trimmed off the lower half of the die before attaching it to the base.
Next I added a light green rhinestone and some orange floss.  Lastly I rounded the bottom edges.  Repeat three more times!!!

I hope you enjoyed today's ABC!

Paper Maniac Thursday - Think Pink!

Thursday, October 21, 2010

Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, we though is would be fitting to have a Pink week on the Paper Maniac Blog.  This card was so fun to make.  It uses stamps from the American Crafts set Enjoy.  I've had this card in mind since I first saw this set.  The set includes two damask-like images.  I selected one and stamped it repeatedly over the entire front of my card.  I did create a grid in pencil before stamping to make sure everything lines up perfectly.  Here's a little tip.  To make things go faster, I created lines that were the width of my ruler so I didn't have to measure anything.
The scroll around the "Happy Birthday" sentiment is also from the same set, Enjoy.  The sentiment is actually a sticker from SRM Press that fits perfectly inside the scroll.  This is such a CAS card, but it has a bold and graphic look.

Have a great day!

Paper Maniac Thursday - Congratulations!

Thursday, October 14, 2010

Hello!  It's Paper Maniac Thursday!!!  Today I have a card to share with you that uses only stamps from Enjoy by American Crafts.  I started with a kraft card base, stamping the border image over and over with red ink until the pattern covered the whole card front.  I love the way this turned out and will definitely do this again.  Just think how it would look using alternating colors.

I created a scene on the square panel.  I stamped the stems green and the flowers purple.  The butterfly was stamped with red ink on cream paper, then cut out with scissors.
I stamped "Congratulations" in blue and inked the edges of the center panel.  I really like this set for creating a scene.  It's so cheery and fun!

Have a great day!

OCC Challenge - Sketch Challenge

Saturday, October 9, 2010

Hello!  Happy weekend to you!!!  I'm here to share my card sample for this week's Our Creative Corner challenge.  This week we have a sketch challenge.  The papers I used come from the Hippy Girl paper pad from Kaiser Craft.  I think I've used all the patterns at least once, except for those big flowers you see in today's card.  The pattern is so big, bold, and bright that it needs to be the center of attention.  This sketch was perfect for that paper.
The scallops are also part of the Hippy Girl paper pad.  There is a whole page of border die cuts.  The stamp is from the American Crafts stamp set called Enjoy.  I just realized that I used that same stamp on last week's OCC card as well.  I hope you don't mind, but it just goes to show how much I like that set.
I hope you get some crafty time in this week and can play along with us.  Don't miss the other samples using this sketch from the design team at Our Creative Corner.  Take care and have a wonderful weekend!

OCC Challenge - Fall Color Challenge

Saturday, October 2, 2010

Hi there!  Welcome to another Our Creative Corner challenge.  I'm so glad you stopped by today.  This week we have a fall color challenge.  You can see the colors to the left.  You don't have to use those exact colors, anything close will do.
I will be totally honest and tell you that I was really short on time making this.  I really can't believe it only took me about 20 minutes to make, and that's really all the time I had.  When I started pulling out the colors I came across the negative Top Note Die space from this card I made last week. So, I used that patterned layer for my vanilla and brown colors.  The card base is Ripe Avocado, the embossed center is Terracotta Tile, and the sentiment layer is More Mustard.

The bird I stamped looked a little awkward floating is space, so I grounded it by extending the lines on the sentiment to create a branch for it to perch on.  I just used a pencil and ruler.

I hope you have time to play along with us this week.  You won't want to miss the other creations from the Design Team at Our Creative Corner.

Have a great day!

Paper Maniac Thursday- SRM Stickers

Thursday, September 9, 2010

Hi there!  It's Paper Maniac Thursday here on my blog.  I had so much fun making this card using a new product.  Have you heard about SRM Stickers?  I hadn't until some of my Design Team friends started saying how much they loved them.  If you don't know, they are stickers that have a clear backing.  They look like a perfectly stamped image.  On my card, the word "wish" and the dotted circle are one sticker and the "happy birthday" sentiment is another.  If I had stamped that white sentiment using white ink, it would not have shown up that vividly on patterned paper.  I love these!

These stickers are a one time use product, but they are so inexpensive and you get a lot in a pack.  Give them a try.  I know you will love them!

I also used the flourish from the "Enjoy" stamp set from American Crafts.  I love how it frames the word "wish".  This is a birthday card, but I used papers from a Christmas paper pad called "Tis the Season" by Kaiser Craft.

Thanks so much for visiting today!!!  Have a wonderful day!!!

Hi there!  I received some happy mail earlier this week from Paper Maniac and couldn't wait to play around with these new clear stamps from American Crafts.  This stamp set is called Enjoy.  This card is super clean and simple with no layers, just good old stamping.

I created the square using one stamp repeating it 4 times.  The rhinestones are a sage green color.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I'll be back bright and early tomorrow with a card sample for this week's Our Creative Corner challenge.  Have a great weekend!!!
