Group Challenge: Stylish Gift Cards

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

Hey there!  It's a super fun day around the blog-o-sphere today.  The gals from Clear & Simple Stamps are at it again with another fun group challenge.  This month we are using the stamp set Just My Style to make some stylish gift card holders.

When I finally came up with the concept for my card, I ran with it.  I had so much fun cutting out and arranging those purses.
I pulled all the papers I used from the same collection so it would be easy to coordinate the purses.  Look at all that dimension.  I intentionally left off the sentiment so it can be used for any occasion, plus there wasn't mush room for one.
And this is the inside of the card.  I stamped the hanger image in red and then "tied" the gift card to the hanger.

Kohl's is where I usually buy my purses, so I thought that was very appropriate for this card.

We have a lot more stylish gift card holders to show you if you just click on the following DT member's sites.

Hope you enjoyed today's group challenge.  Have a great day!

A {Hope Your Day is Fabulous} Card...

Monday, January 31, 2011

Hi!  I have a quick card for you today using this week's CPS Sketch.  I'm once again using the same paper (Be-Loved by My Mind's Eye) yet again.  I think you all may need to hold an intervention.  If I can find some paper I like half as much as this I think I'll be okay.
This card is pretty simple and straight forward.  I used a small hole punch to create notches to keep the floss in place.  I really love the different sizes of the brads and how they are positioned on the striped paper.

Well, that's about it for now.  I did complete the first day of week 4 of Couch to 5K.  It was brutal but I made it.  I think I'm gonna go ahead and sign up for a 5K.  I should be a pro by May.

Anyhow, thanks so much for taking the time out of your busy day to stop by.  Have a great day!

OCC Challenge - 3D Valentine

Saturday, January 29, 2011

Hello!  I have a fun challenge to share with you today from Our Creative Corner.  This week we are making 3D Valentines.  It can be a box, bag, altered item, anything that not flat like a card.

I've had so much fun being on the OCC Design Team, but this will be my last challenge on the team.  I've been on the team for a year and a half and have loved every minute of it.  I think it's just time for something new.

For my project, I made a pillow box and tag using my Silhouette.  I love the mix of the busy patterned paper with the solid tag.  If you are having a hard time reading the sentiment it says "A bushel and peck".

Don't forget to see the other design team inspirations at Our Creative Corner!

Have a great day!

An {I love you} Card...

Friday, January 28, 2011

Hey guys!  Valentine's Day is coming up and I've been noticing that I've been making a lot of cards with hearts on them lately.  Feeling all lovey-dovey I guess.

I started this card off with some cream card stock, I masked the edges before I stamped the text.  The heart was cut using patterned paper and my Silhouette. I love the window effect.
It's hard to see, but all of the edges of the cream card stock are sponged with light pink ink.  I struggled with adding more to this card.  I thought of adding a little something to the sentiment panel, but in the end I like the CAS look best.

Thanks so much for stopping by for a little visit.  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!!

A Sweet {Thank You} Card...

Wednesday, January 26, 2011

Hello!  I hope you are all having a great day.  I mentioned last week that I've been running lately.  Well, walking and running in small spurts.  I'm using a program called "Couch to 5K".  I've been running on the treadmill in the morning right after dropping the kids off at school (every other day).  I've noticed that my days have gone so much smoother on days that I run/walk.  Even though I'm squeezing exercise into my busy schedule, I'm getting so much stuff done.  I don't know if I have more energy or just my attitude is different.  Not sure, but I know I'm loving it.
How about I talk about my card?  Well, this one was created using today's sketch challenge at SCS.  I chose to use that particular patterned paper because it was already scattered all over my desk from the card I made yesterday.
Thanks so much for stopping by and brightening my day!

A {Thank You from the Heart} Card...

Wednesday, December 8, 2010

Hey all!  Today I have a fun card for the Sketch Challenge at SCS.  I pulled out some patterned paper from My Mind's Eye and some stamps from Clear & Simple Stamps.  The stamps areIcons I and Icons Extras, which are new this month.  I stamped the heart four times and then punched out the centers with a heart punch.  I'll let you in on a little secret.  I punched out the bottom two hearts first without thinking that I had no way of punching out the top two hearts.  So, not wanting to waste perfectly good stamped images, I sliced the panel in half right between the rows of hearts, punched out my hearts and then taped it back together!!!  You really can't tell unless you are really looking for it.
The patterned paper behind the hearts is attached using foam dimensionals and adds some depth to the card.  The rhinestones on the hearts are a sort of finishing touch.

Hope your day is going well!  I've been marking things off my to-do list left and right today.  So much to do to get ready for Christmas and I haven't even finished my Christmas cards yet!!!  Have a great day!!!

OCC Challenge - Tag, You're It!

Saturday, November 27, 2010

Hello!  I'm here bright and early with a new challenge from Our Creative Corner.  This one is particularly fun and got me right in the holiday spirit.  The challenge is to make a tag.  Fun, right?  It does not need to be a holiday theme, it could be for anything.

For my tag, I chose to use a cream and red color scheme.  The patterned paper is from Be-Loved by My Mind's Eye.  I've been using that a lot lately.  I also used a spiral notebook die from Papertrey Ink as well as an oval and a labels 9 nestabilities die. I attached the tag to the handle on the bag by threading the rope through one of the center holes in the paper, then I also taped the tag to the bag to make sure it wasn't going anywhere.
I hope you have time to play in this fun challenge.  Head on over to Our Creative Corner and check out all the variations of tags we came up with.  Have a great weekend!!!

An {I love you so much} Card...

Friday, November 26, 2010

Make sure you scroll down or click here for my GIVEAWAY post!

Hey guys!  I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!  We are fortunate to have two days to celebrate.  We spent this past Sunday with my family and then yesterday with my husband's family.  It works so well that way and no rushing around to be in two places.  We are having a lazy day here.  I printed out this week's Sketch Challenge at SCS on Wednesday and finally made a card for it this morning while still in my pajamas.

I really love this collection Be-Loved by My Mind's Eye.  The patterns compliment each other perfectly.  I used two types of stripes and two types of polka dots, but I think it all works.
Lots of dimension to this card, just how I like it!  All edges are sponged with red ink.  I love the shabby feel it gives the card.

Well, now that I'm caught up on cards and such, it's time to clean up the house a bit and start decorating for Christmas.  The kids are excited to help, something we do together every year.

Have a great day!
