Papertrey Ink August Blog Hop...

Saturday, August 25, 2012

It's time for Papertrey Ink's monthly blog hop!  It's been a few months since I was able to participate, so I'm really excited I had the time to participate this go round.
The theme this month is autumn texture, think warm and cozy.  I used some really old Stampin' Up twill tape for the main texture on my card.  It was about an inch and a half thick, so I sliced it down the middle before weaving it in a basket-like pattern.

The flowers come from the set Icon Images that I received for attending the Stamp-A-Faire last year.  I stamped the flowers on cream card stock first and then cut them out with scissors.
The little tag was cut from a CSS die, Tags 2, and stamped with a sentiment from Mixed Messages.  I've had that stamp set FOREVER, it was one of the sets in my very first PTI order.

Thanks for hopping by!

A Quilted {Bundle of Joy} Card...

Wednesday, February 23, 2011

It is really cold today but the sun is shining so I decided to photograph today's card outside.  When I finally had some time to play in my studio today, I didn't have a clue as to what I wanted to create.  In my Google Reader I have a list of cards that I want to CASE or techniques I want to try.  That's usually the first place I turn for inspiration.  I've had this card bookmarked for quite some time.  I'm a big fan of Janelle's and subscribe to her blog.  I just had to give that quilt technique a try.

This card is small.  It's about 3.5" square.  This turned out to be a gender neutral baby card.  I'm not a big fan of the color orange, but I do really love this green, orange and kraft combo.  Over all the quilt was really easy to put together.  Since I chose to use patterned paper, I had to be really careful that the design still looked right after all the pieces were cut. I really love the embossing that Janelle did on her card.  So much so that I left mine plain since I didn't think any of my embossing folders would look right.

This week has really took on a life of it's own.  I feel like I've finally gotten everything under control.  I haven't even made it on the treadmill yet today.  Oh, and we're working on our taxes tonight.  Hopefully I'll get a bit of a reprieve tomorrow.  Thanks so much for stopping by, friends!

Have a great day!

A {Celebrate Today} Card...

Friday, January 21, 2011

Hello there!  Things have been a little crazy around here this entire month.  My kids have had a lot of snow days and I have my eggs in several different baskets.  I haven't been feeling very paper-crafty this month.  I kinda think it's because my studio is a complete mess.  I added two major components to my space (my Silhouette machine and my light box) and I haven't quite figured out how to arrange everything.  I would be so embarrassed if anyone saw my space right now.  This morning my laptop and Silhouette were on the treadmill.

Along with my kids being home from school a lot, I've taken up running and crocheting.  Just like anything new, you want to do it all the time (talking about the crocheting, not the running).  I've been crocheting like crazy.  About the running part, I've started a program called Couch to 5K.  I'll be finishing my second full week tomorrow.  That's been fun since I met a great group of girls to do it with.
Anyway, I made time this morning to get crafty.  This is a pretty simple card.  I wanted to start out simple and get my mojo built up.  The patterned paper and the die cut flower in the center are from Hippy Girl by Kaiser Craft.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

OCC Challenge - Beautiful Butterflies!!!

Saturday, April 17, 2010

Happy Saturday!!! I'm here with a new challenge from Our Creative Corner. This week I'm challenging you to use butterflies on your cards. My card uses paper from Green at Heart by Basic Grey. The flowers that I stamped use three colors. Click on the photo above to see it larger. I lightly applied brown ink to the entire stamp, then applied pink and purple ink to the flowers. I love how it turned out and how well it coordinates with the paper.
For the ribbon I applied a strip across the card front. Then I simply snipped four 1" pieces of ribbon, applied snail adhesive to one end and folded them to make a little loop. I then applied the loops underneath the card stock using glue dots. Hope that wasn't too confusing.

Head on over to Our Creative Corner to see the Design Team's samples and get inspired to create a butterfly card of your own. I hope you can play along with us this week!!!

Miss you...

Wednesday, April 14, 2010

Hello! It's no surprise that I'm using Sugar Rush by Basic Grey again! Don't worry, I am quickly running out of paper and die cuts. In fact, I'm getting ready to open my other Basic Grey kit, Green at Heart, for tomorrow's card.

This is such a happy card. I love all those lovely colors. This card uses today's sketch challenge at SCS. See the ribbon? That was supposed to be a strip of paper. I think the ribbon works nicely.
Tip of the Day: I like using rounded edges at opposite sides of my card . Here, I rounded the bottom corners of the card base and then rounded the top corners of the pink layer. I think it adds some interest and balance.

Thanks for visiting my little blog today! Have a good one!!!
