Paper Maniac Thursday - Shaped Cards
Thursday, August 19, 2010
Hello friends!!! It's Paper Maniac Thursday and I'm here with a fun shaped card. I rarely make cards that are not a rectangle or square, so this was really fun. It was so easy I'm going to have to do it more often. This card is approximately 3.5" x 3.5".
First I used the largest Labels 9 Nestabilities Die to cut two shapes out kraft card stock. I scored a line about half an inch across one side. Bend along the score line and apply glue (snail adhesive or sticky tape) along the half inch strip. This creates a hinge for opening your card. This is also a great method for making a card if you don't have a large enough piece of card stock to fold in half to make a card and you can also make the front and back different colors.
Besides the kraft card stock, I used items from the Green at Heart Collection by Basic Grey. Most of items came from the card kit, except for the striped paper ribbon that is sold as a coordinating embellishment (along with two other styles of ribbon). Since the ribbon is made from paper I was able to adhere it to the orange paper first and make one cut with the Labels 9 Die. That saved some time for sure. The orange paper, leaf die cut, chipboard heart and the rub-on all came in the Green at Heart Card Kit. The one thing I love about rub-ons is that you are able to manipulate them (especially sentiment ones). This rub-on originally said "who loves you, baby?". While that is a cute sentiment, it didn't really fit with the feel of my card. So, I cut off the "who", the "s" in "loves" and "baby?" and added the three dots with a black fine tip sharpie. Now it reads "love you...".
