Happy Harvest

Sunday, August 31, 2008

I made this card at my SIL Carrie's house last night. We had a girls craft night. So much fun. I used Jen del Muro's sketch. I just love using Versamark to create patterned paper. I used three stamps from "Peaceful Wishes" which is one of my favorite SU sets of all time. This card uses lots of dimensionals, but it's hard to tell from the pictures. I was able to make two cards last night and get started on a few more. I can't wait to share them with you this week.

I had a few comments on the beer bread post, asking about a recipe. Well, it's actually a mix from Tastefully Simple. You can find it here. Enjoy the holiday weekend!!!

Stamps: Peaceful Wishes (SU), Loads of Love Accessories(SU), Pumpkin (Studio G)
Card Stock: Pumpkin Pie, Close to Cocoa, Garden Green, Naturals Ivory (SU)
Ink: Versamark, Whisper White
Accessories: Watercolor Pencils (SU), Auqapainter, dimensionals, scissors, leaf brad (Making Memories)

Beer Bread Tag

Thursday, August 28, 2008

I have been super busy today making a dozen (yes, a dozen!) loaves of Bountiful Beer Bread for an event tonight. For those of you new to my blog, I'm a Tastefully Simple consultant. It's helps supplement my stamping and scrapping habit. Anywho, I made 12 of these tags to go on the loaves of bread. It may be difficult to see, but the tag looks antiqued by using Ranger Distress Ink in Tea Dye color. Wish me luck tonight!

Stamps: JustRite Monogram Stamper w/ small alphabet
Card Stock: Mellow Moss, Naturals Ivory, Chocolate Chip (SU)
Ink: Black
Accessories: Pre-made Tag, Dimensionals, Coluzzle, 1 3/4 circle punch

JustRite Stationery Set

Wednesday, August 27, 2008

This has got to be one of my all-time favorite projects. I bought my JustRite Monogram Stamper for this sole purpose. I love stationery and I think it makes a great gift. My mother-in-law's birthday is this Saturday, so I thought I would give this a shot. I couldn't be more pleased with the result. This set includes 12 cards and envelopes all tucked in this cute box. I can't believe I made this box! I will definitely make more of these in the future. It holds the standard 4.25"x 5.5" cards.I found the template here. I followed it exactly except that I made the bottom of the box half an inch deeper so you can see the bottom of the box when the box is closed. Here are some additional pictures.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Stamps: JustRite Monogram Stamper, Swirls V (Autumn Leaves)
Card Stock: Pink textures paper (Bazzill Basics), Whisper White (SU), green (back side of an AC patterned paper)
Patterned Paper: Anna Griffin paper

Halle's JustRite Color Book

Tuesday, August 26, 2008

During the first 9 days of Kindergarten, Halle brought home a book she had made each day with a new color they had learned to spell. I have no idea what to do with all the papers she and Colin bring home each day. Some of the pictures I want to keep forever and others are just worksheets. What to do! Anyway, I decided to combine all these books and make a cover. That way they are all in one place and Colin can use it to start learning and spelling his colors.

Here are all the books Halle made:

Here is the finished book with my cover:

Here's a close-up of the JustRite Monogram Stamp I used:

This book turned out to be almost an inch thick:
Here's the inside cover. The back is finished as well.
Here's one of Halle's pages inside:

I used a manila file folder as the base of the front and back covers. I un-stapled all of Halle's books and hole punched them. The book is held together with two blue grosgrain ribbons. Have a great day!

Stamps: Acrylic Basic Alphabet (Fiskars), JustRite Monogram Stamper w/ small letters
Card Stock: Blue for inside lining
Patterned Paper: all other paper from Basic Grey Cupcake collection
Ink: Real Red, Brilliant Blue, Green Galore, Only Orange (SU)
Accessories: Red grosgrain ribbon (offray), blue grosgrain ribbon (offray), Coluzzle, hole punch, 1 3/4" circle punch, adhesive

August Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!

Monday, August 25, 2008

It's that time again! Time for PaperTrey Ink's monthly Blog Hop. This month Nicole challenged us to find ways to use empty CD cases. I had to think really really hard on this one. Click here to see what everyone else made. I can't wait to see all the creative ideas. Here's what I came up with:

I took two empty CD cases, decorated the inside, and then snapped them together in a square shape. My initial thought was to put a house plant inside, but I don't have any of those (lucky plants!) so I cut these beautiful flowers from one of our flower boxes. They are called Mandevilla and they are growing everywhere. I didn't really decorate the CD cases because I didn't want to take away from main attraction, which is the flowers. Plus, this Basic Grey paper looks great on its own. I only have tall vases so I was able to put the flowers in a plastic cup and hid the cup behind the CD cases. All four sides are decorated, I just didn't get a good picture of the back side.
Here is where I used my Papertrey Ink stamps. I love the green with the pink!

Here's how I got the butterflies to stay where I wanted. I used a brad to adhere the butterfly to a pencil. The brad is actually pushed inside the eraser. Then you just stick the pencil in your arrangement.
Stamps: Butterfly Kisses (PaperTrey Ink)
Paper: Basic Grey's Sultry collection
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Green Galore (SU)
Accessories: 2 CD cases, 2 pencils, brads, flowers, cup, water, green ribbon (offray)

Hi again!

Okay, I've done all the updates I had planned. What do you think? I would love your feedback. I have been wanting to have sidebars on the right and left side since I started this blog but it is not included in any of the Blogger templates. Luckily my husband is a computer genius. I found the code and he was able to enter it in the HTML section for me. Thankfully he didn't mind doing it.

I also changed the background. There were not very many available for the 3 column format, but I think this one suits me. My only concern is that it's too busy.

I do have a project to post, but it's for the PaperTrey Ink Blog Hop this evening. It's super cute. I will be posting it a little after 5:00pm EST. I hope to see you there!

Monogrammed Unity Candle

Thursday, August 21, 2008

I think you all can tell that I'm having a blast with the JustRite Stampin Champion Contest. The gift card holder I made yesterday (see post below) was chosen as a hopeful!! Okay, so I've been trying to "think outside the box" for some of my submissions. I kept asking myself what I could make that someone would want to have personalized and keep forever. Once the idea of a Unity Candle popped into my head, I couldn't stop thinking about it until I made it. I love how it turned out!

The silver candle holder is from my wedding in 2002 and of course I made the monogram of Scott & Dana. I was a little reminiscent while making this. Peach was not my first choice of colors (not my wedding colors by the way), but the selection was very limited at Wal-Mart. Peach was the only color they had in both a pillar and tapers. I spent a whopping $1.20 total on all three candles!!! I picked out the ribbon to coordinate and tame down the peach color. This is the very first time I have used the JustRite Monogram Stamper without the circular border since I wanted an oval shape. The monogram in heat embossed and then stamped over with the branch from Peaceful Wishes (SU) stamp set. I cut out the ovals using a Coluzzle. Here's a close-up side view.
The ribbons are a sage color 1 1/2" wide satin and the cream is 5/8" wide satin in the center and sheer at the edges. You can see in the picture below that wrapped the sage ribbon around the candle and then tied the cream in a bow. This is the picture of the backside (below). I think this would look just as good with both ribbons wrapped around and no bows. What do you think? Stamps: JustRite Monogram Stamper, Peaceful Wishes (SU)
Card Stock: Mellow Moss, Naturals Ivory (SU)
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Mellow Moss (SU)
Accessories: Ribbons (Offray-details above), candles, clear embossing powder, heat gun, Coluzzle, Unity Candle Holder (Lenox)

JustRite Gift Card Holder for SC190

Wednesday, August 20, 2008

Hi everyone! I made this card/gift card holder for today's Sketch Challenge at Splitcoast. I've shown this type of gift card holder on my blog before, but I wanted to show you just how easy it is. I'm a visual learner, so it really helps me to see the steps. The finished size of your card will be 4"x 4".

Start with a piece of 4" x 11" cardstock. Score at 4", 5.5", and 7".

Fold on the score lines so your card looks like this:

You will need to glue along the edge shown.

Then your card will look like this:

Line up your gift card and make a pencil mark just a bit larger than your gift card.

I used my Coluzzle to cut my opening, but you could use a punch as well.

Here's what it looks like when you remove the Coluzzle. You just need to snip the part that is left in the middle.

Now it looks like this:

Slide your gift card in the slot you just made.

Then decorate the front of your card! Your card will most likely not stay closed on its own. I used some velcro as a closure.

Stamps: JustRite Monogram Stamper, Acrylic Flower (Studio G- Michaels $1)
Card Stock: More Mustard, Buckaroo Blue (SU)
Patterned Paper: All other paper from Basic Grey 6x6 paper pack (Cupcake Series)
Ink: Real Red (SU), Black from JustRite Monogram Stamper
Accessories: Buttons, 1 3/4" circle punch (Whale of a Punch), Coluzzle, Rafia (used like thread for buttons)

Acetate Box with a JustRite Tag

Tuesday, August 19, 2008

Remember the JustRite Monogram Stamper contest I mentioned earlier this week? Well, I was chosen as one of the Stampin Champion Hopefuls!!!! You can check out the contest rules and see some of the other Hopefuls projects as well by clicking here. By the way, this was the card of mine they picked. Here is another project using the JustRite Monogram Stamper. ETA: This project was nominated as well! Yay!

This is an acetate box that I made for yesterday Technique Lover's Challenge at Splitcoast. You can find the template here. I was so surprised how it all came together so quickly and so professional looking. I decided to fill my box with candy and add a tag that says "You Are Sweet". I had the idea of adding glitter to the JustRite dotted border to give the look of sugar. I used Tombow Mono Aqua Liquid Glue to "dot" each of the larger dots. I poured some fine iridescent glitter over the glue. Do you think I used enough? LOL! I shook off the excess and poured the leftover glitter back in my container. This is what it looked like after. I used my Whale of a Punch 1 3/4" circle punch to cut out the stamped image. I layered the pink circle on a brown circle cut out by my Coluzzle. I punched a 1/4 inch hole at the top to turn the circle into a tag. Simply tie the bow and VOILA! A gift for the sweetie in your life.
Stamps: JustRite Monogram Stamper
Card Stock: Chocolate Chip, Pixie Pink (SU)
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Pink Passion (SU)
Accessories: Iridescent Glitter, Glue (Tombow Mono Aqua), Light Pink Grosgrain Ribbon (Offray), Coluzzle, 1 3/4" circle punch (Whale of a Punch), 1/4" punch, acetate, assorted candy

Personalized Holiday Card

Monday, August 18, 2008

Here's yet another card using the JustRite Monogram Stamper. The more I use it the easier it gets to insert all those tiny letters into the stamp. One tip: Do not insert letters over carpet. If you drop one, it's probably gone for good. I dropped a few on our hardwood and didn't find them until I swept the floor and looked through all the dust. Thank heavens it comes with so many of each letter. Anyway, here is a holiday card I made using stamps from The Snowflake Spot (SU). It was really hard to get the snowflake centered. You are looking at my 7th attempt! I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem if you would use a Stamp-a-ma-jig {mental note- buy a stamp-a-ma-jig!}. Here is a close-up:

Well, it's official. Both my kids are back in school. Colin started preschool this morning. He was so excited. I should now be able to post more regularly. Take care!

Stamps: The Snowflake Spot (SU), JustRite Monogram Stamper
Card Stock: Going Gray, Real Red (SU)
Ink: Real Red (SU)
Accessories: White Sheer Ribbon (Offray), 1 3/4" Circle Punch, Coluzzle, Dimensionals (SU)

Baby Announcement Sample

Sunday, August 17, 2008

JustRite Monogram Stampers have announced a contest on their blog. Check it out here. I made this card for the contest for today. There is a winner everyday. I've also been wanting to play around with some baby announcements since I have a few pregnant friends. It's nice to have a few samples to choose from. If you are wondering about the baby name on my card, I just made it up. For the pink strip under the ribbon, I used this faux ric rac technique found here. The baby is colored using watercolor pencils.

My hubby is at the Bengal's game for the evening so I'm going to watch some HGTV and pop out a few more cards. See you all tomorrow.

Stamps: All in the Family, Paisley BG (SU), JustRite Monogram Stamper
Card Stock: Close to Cocoa, Pixie Pink, Naturals Ivory (SU)
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Pixie Pink (SU)
Accessories: Circle Punches, Pink Ribbon (Offray), 1/8" hole punch, Dimensionals (SU), Corner Rounder Punch

Here are the other stationery cards I made yesterday. This time I used ribbon and a daisy flower from Making Memories. These flowers were originally white/cream. Patterned Paper: Floral and green from Basic Grey 6x6 paper pack (Sultry)
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Pixie Pink (SU)
