A Much Needed {Spring} Card...

Hey guys!  We've had some pretty scary weather here lately.  See how green out grass is in the background of my photo?  We've had a record breaking amount of rain in this area for April.  Crazy!  It is sunny here right now, but this morning we had a tornado warning.  Needless to say, I am ready for some real spring weather.

I love the marriage of this sentiment and the patterned paper.  I think they are a perfect fit and my card screams happiness.

I didn't have any complimentary buttons (or the right color nail polish to color them with) so I took some Creamsicle Cardigan ink and sponged it on some white buttons.  I hit them with the heat gun to set the ink and then I was good to go.  

I almost forgot to mention that this card was created using today's sketch at SCS.  I love a good sketch!

A {Feel Better Soon} Card...

Hey there!  The kids are on spring break this week so it hasn't been my usual Monday.  Anyway, I made this card using some scraps I've already accumulated from Gertie by My Mind's Eye.  The floss is just glued on the front and taped around the back.  

This is such a simple card, but I love the quilted feel.  I would love to receive a card like this if I was feeling under the weather.

A {You Make Me Smile} Card...

Hey guys!  I'm still blogging away on this tiny lap top.  I hope my photos don't look too wonky, the photos are so small when I'm editing them.  Anywho, sometimes I don't have a lot to say and other days I'm thinking about everything I want to say while I'm making my card.  Well, here's one of those things.  When you have cards published in magazines they will send you the issue that features your card along with some goodies.  Yesterday I received a copy of the November CARDS Magazine that I had a card published in, along with some scrappy goodness that included the brads I used on today's card.  They are gorgeous!  I decided that I didn't want to hoard them, but to put a whole bunch on a card to make it super special.  I really like how it turned out.  I thought the brads would be the perfect center for the sun shape from the SPRING stamp set from Clear & Simple Stamps.

Whenever I'm making a card and am having trouble coming up with a layout I often fall back on this grid style card I used for today's card.  I just love how easy it is to make, yet it looks like it would have taken a lot of time.  

I ordered some ink from Clear & Simple Stamps a little while ago and have opened and used all the colors except for one.  This morning I opened up a color called Brown Leather Satchel and I have to tell you, if you are looking for ink that perfectly coordinates with your kraft card stock, this is your color.  I wish I would have discovered that earlier.  I know this is going to be one of my go-to colors.

Okay, I think that's enough chatting from me today.  I'm expecting some new 6 x 6 packs of paper to be delivered over the weekend.  I can't wait to play with some new goodies.  My supplies have been feeling a little stale lately.  Hopefully some new stuff will breathe a little life back into my studio.

A {Happy Spring} Card...

Hey friends!  I was drinking a cup of coffee this morning, browsing my usual blogs and websites when I cam across a challenge at Moxie Fab World.  The challenge Cath issued was to make a card using paper piecing. My favorite thing to paper piece lately are these adorable umbrellas from the Spring set from Clear & Simple Stamps.  So, I made this happy little spring card.  


The cloud paper I chose has some distress lines in it that make it look sorta windy so the umbrellas look like they are blowing around.  

Here's a close-up shot of the black enamel accents I used on the tops of the umbrella.

An {Under the Weather?} Card...

Happy Valentine's Day!  Thought I'd have a Valentine's Day card to share, huh?  Well, I've had that one done for a while. Click here to see it.  

For today's card I used the new Clear & Simple Stamps SOTM, Spring.  Would you believe that those raindrops in the background weren't one stamp?  They are a one inch strip that you line up to create the look. It was so much easier than I thought it would be and I am an love with the look.

I paper pieced the umbrellas using some fun patterned paper.  The umbrella panel is popped up on two layers of foam dimensionals and the sentiment panel is popped up on one layer.

Clear & Simple Stamps - Group Challenge

Hello!  Today we have a special treat for you!!!  The Clear & Simple Stamps Design Team have put together some spring ensembles using the new SOTM, Spring.  

For my spring ensemble I decided to make a tag and box combo.  The box was cut using the Silhouette and Purplicious card stock.  Everything was tied together using VIP Purple satin ribbon.  


The base of the tag is Purplicious card stock with distressed edges.  I stamped the background rain drops using VIP Purple ink and of course those cute little umbrellas were paper pieced.  

Here's a view from the side so you can get an idea of the size.  It's a little hard to see, but I used some black enamel accents on the top of each umbrella to give them a little dimension.  I love that little touch!

Clear & Simple Stamps - February 2011 Release

Hey there!  Today is the first day of the month and you know what that means!  A new stamp set from Clear & Simple Stamps!!!  It's called SPRING and it's just what you need to get you through these cold winter months.  I love all these adorable umbrellas and sunshine and warm rain.  I almost forgot what rain was since all we've had is snow.

Here's a cute bridal/baby shower card I made using one of the umbrellas and a little paper piecing.  Those umbrellas are just screaming to be paper pieced.  

I used Dare to be a Diva Red for my ink on On the Catwalk Cream card stock.  This is such a clean and simple card, but I think the background paper really ties the images and colors together nicely.
