Best Wishes with Butterflies

Tuesday, June 30, 2009

It felt so great to finally have a chance to play around with my scrapping stuff. I've had my head buried in my computer working on the blog layout. I really want my cards to be the focus of my blog and want to highlight them the best I can. Thank you for bearing with me as I try to figure all this out.

This card was pretty simple. I've been watching the Thinking Inking video series from Jennifer McGuire over at Two Peas in a Bucket and have been learning a lot. See those butterflies? They were dipped in VersaMark and then clear embossed. I would have never thought to do this before watching the videos. I love the effect.
Thanks for stopping by today!!

Building a better blog...

Monday, June 29, 2009

I'm right in the middle of updating the format of my blog. It may look like everything is in the wrong spot, and it probably is. I'm trying to sort everything out and have it looking all clean and fresh. Wish me luck and thanks for dealing with the clutter.

June Papertrey Ink Blog hop

Thursday, June 25, 2009

This month's criteria for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop was to create a card inspired by something, anything summery. My inspiration piece is two fold. The picture itself is summery, but the picture is actually printed on a beach towel!!! PS. The image is from Target.
I took inspiration from the colors and the white and red stripes. I think the overall effect is very calming.
I hope you enjoy the hop!

Raspberry Suite Challenge #10

I'm so glad I was able to participate in Dawn McVey's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge before it was over. I know my colors don't match exactly, but it's pretty darn close. On my last trip to Archiver's I picked up the flower felt as well as the pearls. They are from a company called Kaiser Craft. They are new to me, but I'm loving their stuff. So affordable too. They even have a blog.

Be sure to check back later for my card for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop.

Have a lovely day!!

My Fabulous Friend

Wednesday, June 24, 2009

I saw this card on Andrea Walford's blog a few days ago and knew I had to CASE it. I changed the size from a square card to a standard A2 card size. The papers and colors are different as well. The card base is Lavender Moon and Spring Rain from Papertrey Ink and Close to Cocoa from Stampin Up. The stamps I used are from the set Friends til the End and stamped on Sweet Blush both from Papertrey Ink. The sentiment is stamped using Chocolate Chip ink from Stampin Up and the all the edges are inked as well. I used a white pen to outline the circles instead of piercing and I also left off some embellishments.

I hope you enjoyed my take on this card!

Wonderful Friend

Tuesday, June 23, 2009

Hey guys! We had such a busy weekend that I just had to relax yesterday. But I'm back today with a new card to share. I'm really in love with this butterfly punch from Martha Stewart. It's the perfect size for cards. I would have never of thought to put red and pink on the same card, but this really works with this paper. Sorry about the shadows on my card. I could not get an angle without them.

Have a wonderful day!!!

Father's Day Gift Card Holders

Thursday, June 18, 2009

Hello! I want to start off with some exciting news. I am the Friday Featured Stamper on the DRS Designs Blog tomorrow. I will have three cards to share using there stamps. I'm so excited!!!

Well, I desperately needed to make these gift card holders for Father's Day. We are celebrating tomorrow night and I plan on spending most of tomorrow baking.
The template for these cards came from Kristina Werner on this post. It folds like a matchbook. You start with a piece of 8.5" x 3" card stock and score 1.5" from one end and 3" from the other end and then fold.
I really wanted to use wood grain paper, but I don't have any paper or wood grain stamps. I opened a Microsoft Word document and searched for "wood" . I found a picture of wood grain, enlarged it and printed it on Creamy Caramel card stock. I think it goes perfectly with those screw brads.

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a good rest of your day!

There's No One Like You Friend...

Wednesday, June 17, 2009

Hey guys! I made this card over the weekend since I knew I would be too busy today to make a card. I saw this card (or similar cards) in several places. It's one of the example cards that came with the PDF from the Friends Til the End Quick Kit at Papertrey Ink. This was such an easy card to make. It would be a great card to make if you needed a bunch. Just make sure you use your heat gun on the white ink after stamping. No smears here!

Have a great day!

I hope you are all having a great day! I'm having dinner with my girlfriends tonight and I can't wait. Such a busy week though!

A Torn & Crinkled Flower Card

Thursday, June 11, 2009

Hello! Is is Friday yet? We have such a fun weekend planned, I can't wait! Anyway, so much went into this card. The colors are from Kristina Werner's latest color challenge. The ways to use it challenge for today is to use crinkled paper. The technique for the flowers came from a tutorial from Dawn McVey, although I couldn't get my petals to curl! Okay, with all that said, I'm really not sure about this card. I'm not sure if I love it or hate it. What do you think?

A Stitched Flourish Card

Wednesday, June 10, 2009

Hey guys! I bought a pack of these In Stitch'z Flourish Templates by Bazzill Basics last week and couldn't wait any longer to use them. They are really cool. I think stitching is so relaxing. There's just something about it. I don't think I'm 100% happy with this card, but I'm not sure what it needs. Any ideas?

Well, hope you are having a great day!

A Mojo Monday Card

Monday, June 8, 2009

Wow! I totally did not realize how long it's been since I posted something. I guess I was just enjoying my family a little too much. Nah, I don't think there is a too much when it comes to family.

My card for today uses this week's Mojo Monday Sketch. Making this card really did bring back my mojo. In case you can't read the sentiment, it says "you brighten my day". I thought that was the perfect sentiment for such a bright and cheery card.
Blog Update: I have added two new features to my blog. The first is a Dana's Dabbling Studio Facebook page where you can become a fan of my blog. The second is a "share" feature where you can share my blog posts on Digg, Facebook, Twitter, Stumble Upon, etc. You can find this feature at the bottom of each blogpost. I'm trying to improve my blog a little at a time. Thanks for hanging in there while I try out some new things.
