Programming Update

Thursday, July 31, 2008

My hubby and I are taking the kids to St. Louis this weekend. We are leaving Friday morning and will be back some time on Sunday. I may check in with some pics, but our agenda is pretty full. I've been trying really hard to find a scrapbooking store that is not out of our way (god forbid!) and I think we might end up stopping at Archiver's in Louisville. I'm VERY excited about this! I'm getting really bored with Michaels, Target, and Wal-mart. Plus I have some birthday money that's burning a hole in my pocket! Take care ladies and hopefully I'll be back with lots of goodies.

Happy Birthday to ME!

Wednesday, July 30, 2008

Since today is my birthday, I thought I would make a card using one of my very favorite color combinations: black, white, and red. I used today's Sketch Challenge #187 for the layout. I stamped the Paisley BG stamp on black using white ink and then used black ink to stamp on white. I wish my black would have come out darker. As you can see from the picture below, this card has a lot of dimension. I used SU dimensionals under the white layer and foam tape under the red layer. In fact, when you stand this card up, it wants to fall forward from all the weight!
I'm planning on stocking up on my scrapping supplies with my birthday moolah. I have an order sitting in my cart at the Papertrey Ink store. I'm just waiting for the Guidelines Stamp set to come back in stock. Also on my wish list is paper and lots of it! Have a great day gals! I know I will!

Stamps: Paisley BG (SU), Mixed Messages (Papertrey Ink)
Card Stock: Whisper White, Basic Black, Real Red
Ink: Basic Black, Whisper White
Accessories:
Jumbo Brad (Making Memories), Flower (Darice), Red Ribbon (Offray), 3/4" circle punch, foam tape, dimensionals (SU)

Channeling Dawn McVey

Tuesday, July 29, 2008

Dawn McVey is one of my favorite bloggers. I check her site religiously. Her cards are so simple but have a big impact. This card I made today is CASED from this card by Dawn. She has a knack for mixing colors that I just don't have yet. I decided to do a monochromatic card using all blue. How can you go wrong with that?
Hope you're day is going well!

Stamps: Wishing you the best (SU)
Card Stock: Not Quite Navy, Whisper White, Buckaroo Blue
Patterned Paper: ATD -Modern Milan series

TLC179 & Christmas in July

Monday, July 28, 2008

I was able to combine two challenges for today's card. The first challenge was from the website Our Creative Corner which issues a challenge every Saturday. The challenge from this past weekend was "Christmas in July". The second challenge comes from today's Technique Lover's Challenge on Splitcoast. You had to incorporate a Blintz Base into your card. (That's the origami square at the top.)
On a completely other topic, Halle had her first day of Kindergarten Camp this morning. I know it's not her real first day of Kindergarten, but I just had to take pictures anyway. She's looking pretty sassy wearing a new birthday outfit. Here's my little cutie:

Have a great Monday!

Stamps: The Snowflake Spot (SU)
Card Stock: Old Olive, Whisper White, Close to Cocoa (SU)
Patterned Paper: American Crafts - play series

Sunday, July 27, 2008

Yesterday we celebrated Halle's 5th birthday! We had a big party to celebrate Halle, Lexus, and Kimberly's (cousins) birthdays together. Here is a video with Halle's favorite gift, a guitar given to her by Aunt Amber & Uncle Dan. Colin is on the left and Kimberly is on the right.

My First Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!

Friday, July 25, 2008

Hi blog hoppers! Here is my project for tonight's blog hop. I made a box and adorned it with this vellum "flower". I was trying to "think outside the box" but then I actually made a box! The box is kraft (SU die cut box) and has a sleeve of chocolate chip paper and a striped ribbon from Offray. I cut out 4 circles with my Coluzzle, wadded them up, flattened them out and lightly touched Pixie Pink and Pink Passion ink on the circles. The center of the flower is a 3/4th inch punch on pixie pink with the words "Just Because" from PTI's Mixed Messages. Enjoy the HOP!

Thursday, July 24, 2008

I don't have a card for you today, but I thought I would post the 5 beautiful cards I received from the PTI card swap. You can see my card for the swap here. All of the cards below used Papertrey Ink stamps and some even used Papertrey papers, inks and ribbon as well. You can visit the SCS Swap Forum to join a swap (they have all different kinds). It was really fun to get all these cards in the mail. Many thanks to Amy Smith (AmyStamper on SCS) for coordinating the swap.

K is for Kimberly

Wednesday, July 23, 2008

I made this card today for my niece Kimberly. It uses the sketch challenge for today on SCS. The K is chipboard. It was actually a total disaster. The K was originally blue so I inked it up in whisper white and used clear embossing powder. The white K wasn't working for me so I ended up using one of my kids' crayola markers for the final color. There are also two diamond/rhinestones on the K that look much better IRL. That's all for today. My hubby comes home in the morning and I can't wait.

Stamps: Paisley BG (SU), Swirls (Autumn Leaves)
Card Stock: Ruby Red, Tempting Turquoise, Naturals Ivory
Patterned Paper: Blue Polka Dots (Bo Bunny)
Ink: Real Red, Tempting Turquoise
Accessories: Twill Tape, Silver Brads, Altered Chipboard K (Queen & Co), Rhinestones

Simply Moo-velous!

Tuesday, July 22, 2008

Hey guys! I had the perfect Sunday night planned out full of reality shows on the TiVo and some card making. Scott is in Phoenix on business and the kiddies would be asleep. Anyway, a bad storm came through and knocked our power out. We ended up spending the night at my in-laws. So, my big night in was pushed back a day. I made these two cards last night. We are celebrating Halle's birthday on Saturday along with her two cousins, Lexus & Kimberly. I love how simple and clean this card looks. I wish I came up with the layout but it's a CASE from Kristina Werner. You can see her card here. Here is a close-up.On to the next card. My SIL, Carrie, gave me a few sheets of this black splatter paper and it totally reminds me of cows. I happen to have a cow stamp, so I got to work.
Here's close up so you can see that I popped the cow out with some dimensionals and then layered the white circle on the blue. The scallop is attached to the card with foam tape. A lot of dimension in this card. The word moo-velous is typewriter style letter stickers from Miss Elizabeth's (Dollar Store). About 200 stickers for $1.00!!!

{Lexus Card}
Card Stock: Whisper White
Patterned Paper: Making Memories (for flowers)
Accessories: Paper Piercer, Flower Punch (EK Success), silver brads, Chipboard Letters (Queen & Co.)

{Moo-velous Card}
Stamps: Very Punny (SU)
Card Stock: Not Quite Navy, Whisper White
Patterned Paper: Black Splatter (Making Memories)
Ink: Black (Stazon)
Accessories: Scallop Punch, Coluzzle, Aqua painter, foam tape, dimensionals, Black Ribbon (Offray), typewriter stickers (Miss Elizabeth's)

Retirement Cards: Finished!

Friday, July 18, 2008

OKAY! I totally lied about not posting anything until Sunday night. But, my relatives are running late so I had some time to finish up this project. Yes, the retirement party is tomorrow and I didn't even have the cards made. At least I only had to assemble. Anyway, when I was done making 30 cards, I decided to put them in some cute packaging. I used two acrylic boxes that my Papertrey stamps came in. One box was a little thicker and was perfect for the cards. The other one was for the envelopes.
All the cards:

Two acrylic Papertrey boxes:

Finished gift set:

I put some tissue paper on top of the cards to keep everything in one place. I mimicked the band on the card for the band on the box, just bigger. The band goes around both boxes.

I most likely won't have anything to post until Sunday, but don't hold me to it! Take care!

I'm still here!

Thursday, July 17, 2008

I totally thought I would have a bunch of free time this summer to stamp, but boy was I wrong. When the kids were in school, I would make a card a day. Now I'm lucky if I get three a week.

My cousins are coming in from Kansas tomorrow for a big party and I am so excited, but it's been a lot of work. They are staying at our house for the weekend. The good news is that Scott (my hubby) is leaving for Phoenix on Sunday. I will have a good four nights to do whatever I want. I will most likely be MIA until Sunday night.

Also, I did update some links on my blog. On the right hand side I added some new stamping blogs that I LOVE to visit. I also added a few non-scrapping sites I enjoy. I would like to point out http://www.sparkpeople.com/ . I've been trying to lose weight and I LOVE this site. I use the food tracker to track every single thing I put in my mouth. So far I've lost 7.5 pounds since the end of June. If you like to eat out a lot, DWLZ has calorie counts for a ton of restaurants.

I also added a FEEDJit so I can see where you all live. I was floored that I've seen people from all across the USA, Canada, UK, Germany, and even Tasmania. This blog has been so much fun and it's so fulfilling when I see that people are actually visiting my little stamping site. By the way, do any of you know how to respond to comments using Blogger? I get some really nice comments and I would like to respond. Can you help me?

Okay, I didn't mean for this post to be so long. I bet your thinking that I could have just whipped up a card to post instead of typing out this long rambling post. You're probably right! I'll talk to you guys on Sunday night!

Dancing Queen

Saturday, July 12, 2008

My it's been a while. I've been dying to get creative and today I finally made myself sit down and make something. I made this fun card today. I guess I had that new Mamma Mia movie stuck in my head. I haven't really worked that much with alphabet stickers, but they are very tedious. Next time I think I'll use a ruler and pencil to make sure everything is straight. Here's a close-up of the detail in the letters.

We spent all day yesterday at Coney Island for the Kroger Co. picnic. It was the perfect day. I love watching the kids have so much fun and trying new things.
Stamps: Acrylic Alphabet (Studio G)
Paper: All paper from ATD - Urban Oasis Cardstock Pad
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Silver Brad, Brown Alphabet Stickers (Miss Elizabeth's), Brown Grosgrain Ribbon (Offray), Dimensionals (SU)

Wedding Cake Card

Monday, July 7, 2008

Hey guys! I made this card after reading the latest issue of PaperCrafts. I already had the idea of incorporating paint chips (those little cards with all the colors on them you get at the paint store) into my cards. I thought it would be cool to punch out a bunch of flowers all in the same hue and make a bouquet or something. Then I saw this cake card on page 83 and saw the wedding cake card. I love this idea. I also sewed (half-hazardly) around the perimeter of the card. This is a skill I still need to hone. I included a close-up picture so you can see the 3-D effect of the flowers. I can't wait to play around more with paint chips. The best part is that they are FREE!

Stamps: Warm Words (SU)
Card Stock: Whisper White as the base (SU)
Patterned Paper: textured purple (from my stash, no idea who makes it)
Ink: Whisper White (SU)
Accessories: Thread, Sewing Machine, Flower Punch (EK Success), Silver Brads, Purple Paint Chips

PTI Card Swap - Finished!

Sunday, July 6, 2008

I finally finished my swap cards for the PTI Card Swap #7. This swap is closed, bit there are a ton of swaps going on all the time on Splitcoast. In this particular swap the only stipulation was that all your stamps had to be from Papertrey Ink. I used butterfly kisses & mixed messages (the only two sets I own). This card is actually a CASE from Laurie Schmidlin. You can see her card here and her blog here. I check out her blog every single day. I used dimensionals under the rectangle layer to pop it out a bit. I cut out the circles using my coluzzle, but you could also use punches, I just didn't have the right sizes.

We have had a busy busy busy last few days. We had two 4th of July parties, a 5th of July party, and today is our 6th year wedding anniversay (yes, 6 years on July 6th!). So, I hope you forgive my lack of posting. I'm sure you all have been busy yourselves. We also bought a new camera. I didn't realize how ancient our camera was until we got this one. So far, I love it! You can even take mini-movies! I'll be posting some pics from the holiday weekend shortly.

Stamps: Butterfly Kisses, Mixed Messages (Papertrey Ink)
Card Stock: Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Not Quite Navy (SU)
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Whisper White (SU)
Accessories: Silver Brad, Coluzzle, dimensionals

Sketch Challenge #183

Wednesday, July 2, 2008

I was able to participate in today's sketch challenge because my house is EMPTY! My mother-in-law is watching all 5 grandkids today. They are going to have a blast and so am I! I have been working on a Papertrey Ink card swap, so I used my scraps from that project on this sketch challenge card. I hope to finish and post the swap cards tomorrow. I'm just waiting for the white craft ink to dry so I can assemble them. This card is pretty straight forward and the details are below. Have a wonderful day!

Stamps: Birthday Greetings
Card Stock: Chocolate Chip, Not Quite Navy, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive (SU)
Ink: Chocolate Chip (SU)
Accessories: flower punch (EK Success), silver brads, paper piercer & mat pack, white gelly roll pen
